I think now they know that the peasants are revolting, I'm sure for the next 3 home games Stewarding will be increased and SPG/Snatch squads/Police drafted in for the last one.
Sad days indeed...

I see both the other forums have chosen to 'leak' details as to how GI have recently, err, "backed" Nico.

Sounds like a case for constructive dismissal could potentially be on the cards..... None of this surprises me of course and the ground is possibly the only thing that can be savaged now. Glad I signed the Save Plainmoor petition......

It would appear so, Rob. My weakness is that I always try to see the good in people so when they say they will do something I like to take that at face value, unless I know from history that they can't be trusted. I know many have said that GI/RSL couldn't be trusted but in the 'face value' way, I wanted to give them every chance. Not that there was anything else we could do. However, when they take the piss, as RSL have, I tend to go completely the other way. To say I am hugely disappointed in how things are panning out is a total understatement. My optimism has turned into frustration now, because there is nothing I can do to influence events. As a self-employed businessman that's not a position I find myself in very often. All we can do now is trust in KN and hope he can pull the rabbit out of the hat again and keep us in the NL. On that front I refuse to capitulate, until the maths says otherwise. The fat lady may be drawing breath but she ain't singing yet. COYG! Appreciate your candour, Flo. I agree, it's not inevitable that we are getting relegated. Clearly it will be in spite of our malevolent owners rather than because of them should Nico and this set of players now manage to keep us up. Far from over yet on the playing front.

Effectively we have three home games to attempt to do something about all of this. . If I read our crowd correctly they are not equipped or minded to turn into a mob. However the Council are both our landlords and in terms of sporting provision our protectors given the covenant. It seems a perfectly legitimate thing for a group of fans to encourage people attending one of those 3 games to sign a petition (during the game itself to maximise impact) asking the Mayor not to pass the freehold to the club or to GI or to any of their side companies but for the Authority to retain it themselves for the purpose behind the Cary covenant. Obviously we could seek to maximise publicity before and after that particular game. I would welcome peoples views.

Dazzainns, I don't know if you have received the below? Just seen it quoted on one of the other sites. The timing may be considered appropriate, coming shortly after the transfer deadline with no activity and having allowed time to pass for sceptical and open-minded alike fans to assess for themselves what life under GI ownership is about in the same way that Flo, myself and most of us on here have in the last few days. PlainmoorDear Member,
It has now been over 14 weeks since our Club was sold to Gaming International yet despite many promises to engage and involve supporters during this very difficult period in the Club's history, nothing has been forthcoming.
I will not list all of the things we were told, but notably:
There would be meetings with fans and other stakeholders to engage in discussions about a 5 year business plan. There would be a Fans Forum within weeks of GI taking over. Local people would be invited to join the Board. Funds would be made available to the Manager to strengthen the team. The match day experience at Plainmoor would be improved to attract and retain supporters. GI have not delivered against any of these promises and therefore it is not surprising that the Club continues in a downward spiral both on and off the playing surface.
From the outset there have been genuine fears about GI's real interests in purchasing the freehold of Plainmoor, and many fans will be aware that GI have held discussions in private with Torbay Council on this subject. TUST and many individual supporters have raised their concerns with local councillors and there is now a growing army of resistance against the Council selling the freehold to GI without adequate safeguards built into any agreement that will protect the long term interests of Torquay United.
The mayor will be making a public decision about the disposal of the Plainmoor freehold at a meeting planned for the 26th April.
Our current precarious league position coupled with the failure this week to strengthen the team to help the fight against relegation only serves to reinforce the view that GI are indifferent to the club’s predicament and instead are only interested in the land the club has played on for over 100 years. Clarke Osborne and Chris Rich have failed to honour promises made to TUST and the absence of any information or actions to contradict and dispel some of these fears is cause for concern, worry and anger about the way in which the Club is being run.
The importance of the meeting on the 26th April cannot be emphasised enough as the outcome will go a long way in determining whether the freehold of Plainmoor is to be sold to GI or not. Whatever the decision we should have a clearer picture as to whether GI are in it for the long haul or whether they might walk away. TUST cannot predict the outcome of that meeting but is working hard to identify possible ways to protect the future of the Club if the nightmare scenario is realised.
If we are to believe that the existing covenants and proposed additional restrictive conditions will safeguard Plainmoor from the developers then we must ask the question why are GI so fixated on owning the freehold of a piece of land that seemingly has no commercial value?
Mr Osborne, you do not need to own Plainmoor. If you genuinely want to build a new stadium then build it first.
Whilst some supporters will be comforted by the sound bites emanating from Plainmoor the reality is we are potentially facing our darkest hour both on and off the pitch.
The nightmare scenario is the club going into administration, but as long as Plainmoor is secured by public ownership we will always have a home for a professional football club.
Supporters need to be concerned.
Please click on the following link and see what happens when the developers takeover.

If you are concerned about the future of your club I urge ALL supporters to make their feelings know to their local councillor. You can contact your local councillor by following the link below;

Kind Regards ...

A good idea, makes a change to hear someone with a practical idea rather than morons on other sites reverting to playground insults. However there is very little time to organise this and only two possible games to do it in, the last game against norh ferriby is after the council meeting to decide the ground's fate. The biggest crowd of the remaining two will probably be at the Braintree game on easter Monday but this is only 9 nine days before the council meeting, so that really just leaves the chester game which will probably be the lowest attendance of the three and is just one week away leaving very little time to get this organised.

The local press have not been helpful in publicizing our current plight but we still don't know the endgame of GI due to a lack of any engagement with the fan base which is pretty ominous in itself. I suspect, a surrender of the lease in exchange for land (school playing fields plus sports hubs at the Willows?) that can be developed is a more likely scenario that is being negotiated behind closed doors and maybe this should be the focus for fans. Maybe a dossier of GIs "achievements" with links should be sent to every councillor and officier when considering whether they are the best partner for doing some sort of deal with public Land

Dear Fans,
It is time to point out the facts as they really are:
1. Kevin Nicholson has had his legs and arms tied by GI. 2. GI is not putting any additional money into the club, it will only pay enough to keep TUFC above water. 3. They have not put any money into any transfers and will not be doing so. 4. It is time for all fans to continue writing to the council to ask them to stop any process/idea of selling the freehold to GI or any other individual/company unless to is community owned and a vote of no confidence is put in against the mayor because I believe that he is abusing his power, along with some members of the council who sent TUFC a letter confirming that they might sell the freehold for Plainmoor. 5. I have nothing but praise for Kevin Nicholson and would urge all players of TUFC to put 100% in so that they don't go down as the players who let TUFC be relegated. I would ask all players to make the Great Escape II a reality. 6. Dave Phillips and Steve Breed may go down to Truro to watch the football like they did a few weeks ago but they will need to travel to Bodmin in future to watch them.
On a final note; please support Kevin Nicholson, the fans and the TUST as much as you can. GI want to develop the site but they have hit a brick wall because they under-estimate the feelings of TUFC fans across the country. If we all stand together, we will find the money from locals and national fans together. Fans should be under no illusion, GI are banking on wearing us down; don't let it happen.
Yours sincerely
The factfinder

Yours sincerely The factfinder An interesting rallying call and much to agree with. A hard hitting first post, factfinder. Like it. Having pretty much unanimously decided now on this thread that we have shitty owners, maybe someone could start a thread or set of PM's on what to do? My suggestion is just one possibility, and of course we have a TUST update thread that clearly suggests one course of action for supporters presently. Perhaps that is deemed sufficient on here by all? Looking at torquayfans.com as an example there seem to be a million and one other ideas from clearly distressed fans right now. Fans sick of what they see as a dreadful set of owners. Already on here, we have "probably Chester game", "Has to be Braintree" and "land exchange as opposed to Plainmoor only". All are good points, and all will have been read by GI and their sole fan on the boards who will love how disparate the thoughts of action across the forums are, of course. These are distressing times for supporters, and most appear to have given up on the HE properly reporting our fortunes off the pitch and galvanising real concerns that are being raised by all manner of supporters. There needs to be a focal point for all these ideas, doesn't there? I have quoted an obvious one above. Anyone with an idea they have about their concerns over GI's ownership has nothing to lose by, in addition to mentioning it in a post and contacting their local councillor if in Torbay and/or South Devon with same concerns, forwarding it on to an organisation that has clearly followed the progress and updated us to date on "Plainmoor dealings" more than any one of us could alone muster. Perhaps something co-ordinated might be achieved in addition to writing to your local councillor? It is not my suggestion, not that that matters, but leaflets, for example, have been mentioned by many already. These cost money and, of course, would have to be co-ordinated to get off the ground. Go alone if you think you can better co-ordinate it. You'll get plenty of support from all forum users bar AJ by the looks of it. However, it does rather read as if we are a bunch of headless chickens at the moment. Perhaps this is very understandable if, having assessed our new owners, fans fear for the future of TUFC. It is impossible for a disparate group such as fans to be as co-ordinated as, for example, a small group of property developers. However, it would be reassuring in adversity to see it tried.

Yours sincerely The factfinder Good post and my thoughts entirely. They have perhaps inadvertently "shown their hand" early a piss poor move on their part and are now regarded as the enemies of the football club by all I would imagine. My original viewpoint was to give them a chance and see what happens after all they promised so much but have delivered f**k all in their short time as owners. Dave Phillips thanks for nothing one more disastrous bad decision that could spell the end. I wonder how Thea feels after all that she and her husband have put into this club and to iop it all she wrote off her debt to these shysters.

Yours sincerely The factfinder While I don't dispute your call to arms re writing to councillors, you are wrong here. It is not an abuse of the system by the mayor, but a mayoral decision under the council's constitution. He may yet refer it to full council for a decision. And no members of the council will have sent a letter ('members' are elected). It will have been staff at the council, and not necessarily with any consultation with the members. Mud slinging should at least be in the right direction! Given your inaccuracies on this point, one wonders what else might be incorrect in your post.
