Seems like we're nursing Sturrock through on a wing and a prayer hoping he doesn't end up like Christie.................as Bucks alluded to when he made the observation that this is an occupational hazard when bringing in loan players who are short of match practice. The REAL problem is Benyon though, after two complete seasons he cannot be relied upon to play with any noticeable appreciation of what's going on around him and merely hanging onto his contract by the skin of his teeth through the occasional blinding finish. I'd rather we persevered with Matt Green to be honest as he appears to be a properly coached and brought up footballer which Benyon NEVER will be. A player like Sills, as good as he is at what he's good at; still needs a regular and reliable scorer to play off him with a degree of appreciation of what he is doing before we can approach home games with a degree of confidence that we WILL win rather than merely HOPING to win.

With respect, this is quite a harsh statment to make about Benyon? I think I am corrct in thinking that even you have commented about the progress the lad has made this season. Would the ratio of minutes on pitch to goals back up that he merely makes the occasional blinding finish. Of course there is far more to a strikers game. but putting the ball in the back of the net is one criteria which should be considered. Benyon, like Green is far from the finished product, that is clear to see. To be honest a combination of the two would be ideal, but a combination of the two would be playing at Championship level. With regard to your comments about Benyon never being able to be a properly coached footballer, why do you think this to be the case?
