Very sad to see the end of football in Truro after 129 years, but the inevitable conclusion to years of bullshit.
I expect there is enough left over from the developer’s cash handout to see them through one season of National League South football on zero crowds without Mr Masters having to put in a penny of his own money.
After that .........
Does anybody seriously believe that this has suddenly happened now?
The cynical timing of the announcement is to head off any protests at Truro last Tuesday or Falmouth yesterday.
A fait accompli announced less than a fortnight before Truro’s first “home” game.
Or will Super Pete save the day with a last minute piece of brilliant negotiation to keep them at Treyew Road until Christmas?
Coincidence that we have spent money upgrading the pitch? Or done in the knowledge it would see double the usage this season.

"We have been discussing the possibility of Truro City joining us at Plainmoor for one season. We would be delighted to welcome the team and their supporters whilst their new stadium is under construction.
It will be double the work for Geoff Harrop and his stadium team, but they are certainly capable and looking forward to the challenges.
It will be a good experience for the operation of a multi-event arena that we hope will be the home of Torquay United in the not too distant future."

Rob Loyalgull's observations relate to one specific building project. My answer related specifically and only to that. As regards Osborne Arena completion by 2020 there's been no 'will' and no 'promise'. But on the other hand if there had been a promise then that would have been just as bad if not worse it seems. Osborne's valiant attempts to save or prolong some fading sports are a totally different kettle of fish to providing an Events Facility for a big population such as Torbay, which should also benefit the football club after many years of perpetual loss making. But there are threads dedicated to that, whereas this one relates to Truro City and their on/off move to Plainmoor. Challenging for promotion and fitting homeless Truro City into Plainmoor are the pressing matters of the moment. Standing in front of the construction vehicles, Boris Johnson style, to prevent the Osborne Arena rising majestically is something for TUST Militants to occupy themselves with during a future Summer  |

That's right.That's the plan. Just as Truro City 'plan' to groundshare with us in 2018/19. But I doubt you'll see them making a solemn promise that it WILL happen until the F.A, NLS or however it is, ratify such an arrangement and give their blessing. Just as we haven't been able to promise completion, or probably even finalise stadium design drawings without being told which piece of ground is definitely being made available to us to construct the new stadium. To my knowledge the Council have neither given the go ahead for the project or confirmed they've given the green light to a specific location.
Osborne did no more than tell us what the plan was. Claims he'd made a promise are hogwash. I'm sure if you cross referenced after checking on who'd been spreading that fallacy, you'd find on almost every occasion it would have been a TUST Militant.

Thanks Jerry. There has been no update on this plan, so it remains the most recently stated plan. Simple to understand, really. Previous ‘plans’ at Reading, Swindon, Bristol, Milton Keynes et al are also well documented. Pretty much all bar one (maybe?) on here considered it hogwash then and given AJ’s postings today, even he considers Stadia 2020 hogwash now. Very sorry for Truro fans with this news. I know how it is to support a club that is left with no home. |
