Baily Cargill performing well for Fleetwood Town, and played in last night's televised (BT Sport) F.A Cup tie, when he and his Fleetwood teammates knocked Hereford FC out of the competition. A further clutch of our loanees could become 'ex-players' as they're due to return to their own clubs in the following weeks, as Gary Owers confirms on the OS. In the same piece, Owers also makes nostalgic use of the term 'wife' when mentioning that Mrs.Dorel is due to give birth in the near future. Deny it all you want Gary.....but you're definitely old school ! As long back as 2009 my daily newspaper was reporting that use of the word 'wife' was a description fast falling out of favour in these politically correct times.
link - Partners, partners everywhere !
Should Gary hope to have his invitation to address those bastions of political correctness, The TUST, renewed, he really is going the wrong way about it.

A belated Happy New Year to everyone. I'm a little disappointed that I'll soon lose sole top billing, with visitors to the site surely about to be additionally warned in advance that Floridagull posts 'nonsense'. But there's room for more rebels if you're brave enough. Pluck up your courage, don't be cowed into only nodding along with the approved narrative, and join us on the naughty step at the start of 2018 . Gulls fans of the world unite. You have nothing to lose but your TUST membership card . Back on subject, and where are they now ?. Or in this case, 'where were they this morning ?' As soon as the draw was made it was obvious that the tie of the F.A Cup third round was little Carlisle Utd being drawn at home to the mighty Sheffield Wednesday. For the Carlisle players it was a case of participating in that final training session before tomorrow's big match. And below we can see Keith Curle warning his players 'And if any of you don't give 100% tomorrow, you'll be sent on loan to Torquay for the rest of the season !' We can see it's bleak up north, but Keith's threat should be enough to ensure total commitment from his team for the 90 minutes tomorrow afternoon. Also in the picture, and too knackered to stand up, is Mark Ellis.........couldn't we do with him powering the ball into the net from set pieces for us just now ?

Shawn McCoulskey scores the winner for Newport against Championship outfit Leeds.
Why wouldn't we play him...

Kieffer Moore just signed for Barnsley. An interesting development, Stig. Kieffer's career was going nowhere as he kicked his heels out of the side at Forest Green. But then King Kev stepped in and demonstrated how he should be used in order to make the most of his abilities, while totally rejuvenating Kieffer's confidence at the same time. An with the fee reported to be three quarters of a million, a nice slice of the transfer fee for Kieffer's back pocket also. Let's just hope Gary Owers has an eye for a player the way our previous Manager did. Get that statue built !

There is clearly something amiss when we cannot attract the best young players from Torbay to the club. I see Exeter have a promising young forward from Torbay in their squad. In future I would love to see young talent from Devon and Cornwall joining United rather than Plymouth or Exeter.Relegation may not be a disaster if it encourages the club to put together a team of talented youngsters.

If we had had a fit for purpose youth system we might of attracted this local youth. But in times past it was decided it wasn't financially viable.

There were plenty of opportunities to sign Kiefer Moore in the past but the club were just too short sighted as far as a proper youth set up/scouting. The club had to concentrate time and resources just to survive in whatever division we were in at the time. We are in the process and have been for a while of finding a level where we capable of competing and as much as I hate to admit it NLS is probably it and just about sustainable. Grounds a bit to big for five or six hundred fans though and that's a prime residential land up at Plainmoor so I guess eventually we'll end up Ground sharing with the likes of Buckland Athletic.

I see Bliss is being released from the Gargs this month. Wonder if he wants to stay in the area?
