As long as he doesn't score against us I will be happy to clap him off the pitch! Indeed, my charitable feelings may diminish if he heads in a corner on saturday! He didn't invoke a bidding war with our nearest league rivals. You have my blessing, Downesy ;-) Agree, he did always give his all for us and deserves warm applause.

In October 1982 Bruce Rioch brought in a very good 19 year old centre half in on loan from Stoke City called Steve Bould who played in 9 league games and 2 FAC games for Torquay. In a career spanning over 30 years at the highest level we are the ONLY club that he was ever loaned to...

Pretty sure we had another player from Stoke that year as well. When Bould went back, I think we brought in another centre-half on loan called Mark Hughes - possibly from Bristol Rovers. I think Hughes played in the cup run to the 4th round that year.

I think Hughes played in the cup run to the 4th round that year. Yes Bould was recalled by Stoke and Hughes came in on loan from Bristol Rovers. Hughes scored one of our goals in the FAC 4th round against Sheffield Wednesday. I was in the mini stand that afternoon and can still remember Ray Bishops goal hitting the net. We may have lost 3 2 but a cracking cup tie and i think we will have a long wait to see over 7,800 inside Plainmoor again.

I think the Stoke player I may be thinking of is Steve Lennox but it might be the year after.

Gosh - Alan Little. He was a loss when he went, and even he had not been there that long, as I think he was an exchange, the season before, for Clive Wigginton, who had come from Grimsby and was captain, but only played a few games before moving to Doncaster in exchange for Little.

Just got back from a fortnight's holiday in Scotland during which I went to see Ross County under 20's play.
In reading their programme I noticed Chris Robertson is playing for them. Apparently he is well liked, which doesn't surprise me as he was a very good defender.
