Many thanks for your support Thankyou for that. I hope that you never have to buy the NLP - its a bas*ard of a league to get out of with only on going up automatically

Well, from the Sunday Independent
Boreham Wood had a crowd or 351 at yesterdays game. (I think they went full time last week).
Moses Emmanuel got another two for Bromley.
Is 21st in the Conference the lowest position (in lots of ways) in the clubs history?

Is 21st in the Conference the lowest position (in lots of ways) in the clubs history? I'm guessing Borehamwood get a few bob from their U21 Arsenal connections. Certainly has to be something other than gate receipts. Moses Emmanuel looks like he might be a 'find of the Conference season' candidate. Securing part time talent within the M25 and securing it in our situation are two different things in terms of available player pool. Even if geography is dismissed, there is still an overwhelming numbers game on Bromley's side of that fence. And Yes. But the seeds have been long sown by nothing to do with present management either on the football or business side, as I see it. Personally hope that Nicholson has not been seen as the best of the 129 applicants. Whoever it is, though, will get my support at the outset of their job in hand as the club's circumstances are not what they once were financially and it's almost guaranteed that they won't be raking it in in terms of either salary (eg: perhaps Hargreaves by comparison) or budget. (eg: perhaps Buckle by comparison)

I see that Lee Mansell scored for Rovers (Bodin also scored), doubt we'll see him at Plainmoor shortly. Shame we could so with him.

Hargreaves said the same thing not so long ago,and this squad is twice as bad as he had so sorry KN it aint going too happen On the evidence of this season i think i have to agree with you. This month alone we have six naughty looking league games and an FA Cup Qualifying round game that we dare not lose either. I wonder if KN might walk out if the situation looks even more hopeless by November. It wouldnt surprise me at all if we end up having three or four different managers in charge by the end of this season.

Nicholson was a good player for us apart from the last 12 months in which he was shocking. He also a thoroughly decent human being,i really do want him too succeed, but just as hargreaves was its right person wrong time.As for the board saying he was the best applicant think of that as you will. A big shame for him,as its not going too happen, lets hope the boards decision too hire him as player/manager doesnt damage his future after the boots are hung up

Nicholson was a good player for us apart from the last 12 months in which he was shocking. I would take issue with that. The reason he looked ineffective was simple, and you only have to look at saturdays match to see why. Every time Hurst got the ball and looked to run at the full back, the first person to try and close him down was the opposing wide player, backed up by the fullback. We havnt had a wide player do that effectively since Zebs left, though to be fair Ajala often came close last year. Pretty much all the opposing teams over the last few years do NOT leave their full backs exposed and invariably seem to have the need for the wide players to track back drilled into them. Meanwhile, we have had wide players that for the most part dont seem to have a clue how to track back. Its no wonder that Nico looked overrun so often, and I know he wouldnt make any claim to be the quickest full back around either so repeatedly leaving him 1 on 1 against nippy wingers was only going to have one result. I'll toss a few names in, Shepherd and Briscoe (if he's being used as a wide player) from the current squad, Thompson, Cameron, Chappell, Bodin and Stevens from the previous few seasons. I dont think any of them have shown any aptitude for defensive duties, and to be honest, none of them seem to offer much in the ability to go past players and provide dangerous balls for the strikers to get on the end of either.

I am curious as to what these ideas are that, as a prospective manager of a group of footballers, KN practiced on himself. Diet? I can think of much that translates from 'doing something to yourself' to being manager of a football club.

My understanding is that this dates back to the days when Kev found himself playing under the uninspiring and tactically inept managership of Alan Knill. While all the players suffered from waning motivation and despair as they trudged off the training ground after an AK coaching session, Kev decided to come up with ideas of his own to counter the AK malaise.
I'm sure that once we've started climbing the table and some of the current bunch of boycotters have decided to once again turn up at Plainmoor to support the team, Nico will use his manager's notes page in the programme to reveal more, but I'm lead to believe that the grilled broccoli and bottled water diet (as favoured by Arsene Wenger) was given a try. When Kev was at home complaining that he was getting nervous on the morning of a game, Mrs.Nico is rumoured to have informed him that 'The answer is in the building !', whereupon she produced the vacuum cleaner and got Kev to do 15 minutes of therapeutic hoovering. Nico found this to be such a benefit in conquering his pre match nerves, that he even went round to his mate Manse's house to demonstrate the advantages.
Additionally, the need for a resolute defence that will stand strong whatever it gets bombarded with, is something Kev is acutely aware of. I believe he drew inspiration from regularly watching 'the worlds toughest bridge' video, and to maintain that mental toughness would listen to the Theme from Rocky in the car, as he drove to Plainmoor for the match (expect that the be confirmed as the new 'run out' music soon).
Just a small selection of the numerous tips Super Kev will be sharing with Cap'n Angus and the lads .
