I'm pretty certain the NLP doesn't mark below 4/10. There's been a few papers who do it that way. To the best of my knowledge there's never extra-time in the FA Trophy (unless it's a replay). Different rules apply in the FA Vase where there can be extra-time subject to agreement. As was the case at Buckland Athletic yesterday. Buckland are through in the Vase. Merthyr are through in the FA Trophy. I hear that, should they play Torquay United at home later in the competition, a father and son from the area will be sponsoring the game with hospitality for all members of this forum. you are all welcome to come and stay in Ferndale where you will enjoy a chicken curry and rice, music quiz and several pints of the local brew

Always worth a scan of the Non League Paper for news of opponents (past and present) and, well, general quirkiness.
Is Thea still seeking investment partners? There's an advert in this week's NLP headed "Wanted: Non-league football club - with potential!". Something about a "cartel" of businessmen looking to acquire or take a majority interest in a non-league football club.
They describe themselves as "local" and say their preferred club will be "ideally in or around the M25". But, there again, all responses will be considered. Not sure how "local" quite sits with that. Anyway the contact email is jsfcinvestor@yahoo.com. I'm sure it's too good an opportunity to miss.
Maybe they'll take a punt with Goole AFC, that well-known M25 outpost. There was all sorts of talk there when a character called Baron Bloom "invested". Now he's buggered off. Former manager Curtis Woodhouse reckons Bloom has "left the club in a mess".
There's been much said about the "Class of '92" buying into Salford City. The club are top of their division which is on a par with the one in which Taunton and Tiverton play. The next five clubs in the table? Darlington, Northwich Victoria, Droylsden, Scarborough and Farsley. Haven't we played all five in one form or the other?
Alpine Joe might be interested that Greenwich Borough have taken to advertising next Saturday's FA Vase match against AFC St Austell FC in the NLP. Adults £8, concessions £4 at Dartford FC. I'm sure AJ has a place booked on the coach from Poltair already.

A hint in the local press; deeper speculation elsewhere. If it's the JSFC Investor Cartel, and they prove unsuitable, a grave responsibility will fall upon my shoulders. To be on the safe side I shall stay clear of Altrincham today. I don't wish to be seen as an intermediary in anything that is dubious.

I see that Bristol ' we get 6,000 through the turnstiles' Rovers have signed Jermaine Easter.
Ebbesfleet seem to be 'splashing the cash' nwith the signings of Danny Kedwell (ex AFC Wimbledon?), Matt Fish and Kelvin Langmead (Ex Cobbler) and quite a few other players.
Jake Robinson on 12 goals for Whitehawk, who have Sergio Torres playing for them. Wasn't he the the guy that scored for Crawley in THAT FA Cup game and went onto play Manchester United in the next round?
Leon Constantine playing in midfield for Brimsdown
Billy Turley, everyone's favourite keeper now turning out at the age of 41 for North Ferriby.
A good read, especially over a pint of Devon 'with the sparkler on' Dumpling.

A good read, especially over a pint of Devon 'with the sparkler on' Dumpling. A classic Devon cocktail. Pint of Devon Dumpling with a little parasol, a cherry on a stick and a sparkler. Marvelous, isn't it? Did they still have the steak and mushroom pie on?

News in today's Non League Paper that the new Hereford FC has been granted a five-year lease to play at Edgar Street. The club hopes to start in the Midland equivalent of the Western League's premier division (in other words the same level as Buckland Athletic).
Phil Babb has left Hayes & Yeading with our friend Tristan Lewis taking temporary control. At the time Lewis was said to be exploring the possibility of "investing" in Torquay United I was led to believe there might have been a role at Plainmoor for Babb.
St Austell have reached the semi-final of the FA Vase by beating Ascot United in front of a 1,400 crowd. The semi-finals are two-legged; the home leg may tempt me if it's the day we're at Southport.

I see that the Conference team of the week-end includes the Telford 'keeper, Craig Stanley and Karl 'I've scored again' Hawley!

Haven't bought the NLp for a few weeks, but purchased today and read whilst supping an excellent pint of Devon Dumpling.
Sam Elliott's Conference All-Stars had Lee Mansell mentioned "What pressure? With the eyes of 50,000 on him at wembley and countless watching at home, there was nobody inside the stadium with icier veins. His winning penalty showed not an ounce of nerves, the magnitude of the kick not in evidence as he struck his shot into the topcorner like a player cantering and carefree. Back in the Football League where is talents deserve to be displayed, Mansell has been a man-mountain all season long"
Fans having their say menioned Alfrton Town beating ex-league club Torquay 4 - 2 live on TV, Aaron Downes mentioned as one of the best opposition players seen and Braintree Town "Doing the double over exLeague team Torquay Unied. we beat them 2 - 0 at home and 5 - 1 away on a Tuesday night".
Fans having their say - our best player Luke Young. Lowest moment of the year, losing to Wrexham in the Trophy. What do you need before next season " A commanding goalkeeper. A 20-goak strker. And to keep luke Young. I don't ask for much...."
Fair bit of reporting on the play-offs. "Play-Off madness isn't necessary" - Would agree with that.
Ross Hannah released by Grimsby
Alam Connell looks to be leaving Havant & Waterloo

Not so much the Non League Paper but the Sunday Independent. There's a reference to the TUST planning event on page 5. It's slightly confusing because that's the Argyle page. The main event is on page 17 under the heading "Chris faces a huge summer workload". This is Dean Stacey's list of suggested targets. Names include Kieffer Moore, Rene Howe, Artur Krysiak, Steve Mildenhall, Luke Oliver, Troy Archibald-Henville, Jamie Richards, Durrell Berry, Jason Banton, Kadell Daniel and Matt Richards. Some tidy players there but I fear one or two may be out of Torquay's price range. Good news elsewhere in the paper. Argyle have won the championship!

A few other recent items from the Non League Paper.... Next season's provisional league constitutions from a few weeks back. Inevitably there will be changes. The new Hereford and Salisbury clubs are one step below the lowest level shown here: The BIg Bath City Bid - the effort to raise £1.4m from a community share issue - has a high-profile launch coming up on Tuesday. That's a lot of money. How about the announcement that the finals of the FA Vase and FA Trophy will be played as a double-header on Sunday 22 May 2016? You wonder if this will greatly alter the FA Trophy round dates which were clustered together in January and February last season. This, in turn, meant a heavy midweek schedule before Christmas.

There's always changes to the league constitutions after they've been published. The first change is Clevedon Town getting chucked out of the Southern League. Problems with the ground (specifically the floodlights; maybe be more to it than that alone); that's the one you can see clearly from the M5.
As a result one club - Redbridge - gets a reprieve elsewhere in the structure (on a points-per-game basis); six others are swopped between leagues on the grounds of geography. The likes of Taunton and Tiverton now face Burnham. Flackwell Heath and Marlow as opposed to Clevedon, Fleet and Petersfield.

This week's NLP includes a plea from manager Paul Fairclough to "save" the England C team. The FA plans instead to put the money towards more 3G pitches.
The team is something of an anachronism following on from the old England Amateur and England Semi-Professional sides. It receives little attention; the NLP's four pages devoted to last week's win over Ireland probably constitutes nearly all of the coverage given by any source to this game. If the team is kept why not give it another name; restrict it to players (of any age) from leagues that are organised on a regional basis (National League North, South and below). There's a report about the new licensing system for clubs in the National League (better get used to it; it's a proper renaming of the league itself rather than just a sponsorship whizz) and the three steps below. Clubs will need to have a licence to be a member of any of these leagues: ownership and finances under scrutiny; a strengthening of the Owners and Directors Test (ODT).
The National League has signed a ten-year deal with a company called Jako to supply balls and "benchwear".
More interestingly the national division will now accept clubs from step 2 (North and South) playing on 3G surfaces. Sutton United may soon be a case in point having obtained permission to instal an artificial surface at Gander Green Lane.
There's a story from Grimsby about an "Operation Promotion" fund which, at the time of the report, has raised over £60,000.
Barrow will be full-time next season; Bacup Borough have appointed an official club poet.
My mate James is always keen to expand his results coverage in the NLP and this week includes a few scores from Orkney. Summer football in Orkney and Shetland? Okay I'll admit to having seen half a game in Orkney and a whole ninety minutes in Lerwick.
Malcolm Crosby in at Gateshead - good grief he's older than me.
Dean Holdsworth at Brentwood: have they got ambition and dosh?
Scarborough Athletic returning to the town - we may know that already.
Jordan Parkes has gone from Hemel Hempstead to Ebbsfleet as the Kent club "signal their intention for the new season".
Hayes and Yeading have apparently offered a deal to the one and only Elliot Benyon.
Gary Brabin remembers driving home from Torquay one night: "it was a nightmare. You could have got to Mexico quicker!"
And, Chelston, it says here that Ross Hannah has joined Chester....

Thank for that review of the NLP.
I did consider buying it today but after noticing that the issue was thinner than a sheet of tissue, I decided not to bother.
