There seems to be a lot of misery about at the moment and some folks are giving Dave a hard time and suggesting that the board is too sedate. Be careful what you wish for, guys.
Here is an example of what the TFF is missing. Since I am about to move to Sheffield I chose the Sheffield Wednesday board owlsonline. Not picking on the Wednesday; they just happened to be the one I chose, and here are just 4 examples plucked from the opening page today:
Re: James McCarthy: **** off back to LONDONderry you ****.
Re: the Blades forum: Who gives a **** what pigsmad has to say about anything?
They are ****** morons.
Re: a Leeds fan attacked by a gang on Saturday night and now in a coma: He only has himself to blame. That's all I'm saying. And he got hit once AFTER bouncing over the rd swinging.
To a fellow Owls supporter who asked an innocuous question about tickets for Barnsley: Mardy ****. **** off back to stalk.
I was beginning to feel as if I was in a sewer by this point so fled back to the safety of the TFF. Obviously no-one who uses this forum wants to see posts like these appearing here, but they do serve as an illustration of what too many fans' websites turn into. Here, in contrast, the TFF is packed with interesting and intelligent entries on a wide range of subjects while never forgetting that its No 1 and reason for existing is Torquay United FC.
Please don't take this site for granted. It's just not possible to please all the people all the time but if it errs on the side of safety (which I for one don't accept it does) then that's a minor fault. Compared to owlsonline, for example, which contains stuff foul enough to make even my hair curl, it's damn good!

Hard time wildebeeste this is easy compared to how it used to be for me on here thanks for your words of support they are very much appreciated. The TFF has more than enough good members to keep the forum good and strong. It would be nice to see more join in and post just to add some other valid viewpoints to the ones our regulars make.

I certainly wouldn't recommend owlsonline. I was a member of Owlszone for many years until a Trotskyist cabal got me banned 8 or 9 years ago. Might well suit you down to the ground though wildebeeste I've just had a look at their front page , and there's a nice nostalgic look back at FHM magaziine from 20 years ago. I've not seen my copy lying around for ages. Hirsty and Cathy Dennis in the same issue for only £2. That was the way of the world back then, I think this calls for a 'What are you listening to' post as well.

Not to sure anyone has been pleased at all this last week due to the forum almost falling completely to sleep forever. I have not been able to post all week due to getting injured at work on Tuesday and to be honest I have been shocked how the posts on here simply dried up. It does sadden me as I believe the TFF is a good forum and does deserve more support than it often gets. The only way the TFF can get back to where it was once, is if its members play their part and use it. Does the TFF have a future? or is it going to be allowed to die a slow death? only time is going to tell.

I know you say there are more posts when you close the forum to guests, Dave, but there hasn't exactly been an avalanche of posts since it's happened has there? I view the forum on different devices and frankly can't be arsed to log in every time I want to view a website. There have only ever been a handful of thread starters on here, so if they don't post there are no new threads. I hope you put the details of your accident in the accident book at work btw.

Shoot me down in flames and all that but since both the TFF and BYTIR are not exactly pulling them in at present wouldn't a ground share be sensible?
I am not sure that TUFC fans really need two separate forums (fora?) and there are probably others like me who can't be bothered to log out of one and into the other especially if the two are going to keep on being snidey to one another.
Dave, Alan, isn't it time for a peace conference? If Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness can manage to bury the hatchet for the common good then you should be able to do it too, eh?
OK, I've got me tin hat on so fire away....

OK, I've got me tin hat on so fire away.... There is actually a third Torquay United fans forum with more members than TFF and BTPIR combined. and it has also been very quiet on there the last week or so (well we have been winning). I find it strange that our club with home attendances struggling to get past 2000 has three forums (I don't know the plural either - it's always been a complete mystery! ). However they are all quite different in style and content and while three exist I am happy to register with all three. Of course Wildebeeste there may be room for you to become the site owner of TYYM (The Yellow Yorkshire Moors Forum)!

That's a bold move by Wildebeeste and you can blame me for putting silly ideas into his head. We'd just turned off the M1 on to the A61 at the time.
I know about freedom of choice, and so on, but this forum could do with the contributions of the people who currently post on Merse's site. Equally there's a fair number of people on here who I'd like to see on Beyond the Penn Inn Roundabout. And yes I know all about the Big Fall Out but, as I've said previously, by far the best times on this forum were before the autumn of 2010. I'm also minded to say that, because I believe the craze for football forums is in the past, I can only see steady decline for both sites if things continue. That's not the biggest tragedy going but it would be a shame.
But I need to add a proviso. If there is to be a new - or merged - site I believe it would best served by a new site owner/administrator. I'm not sure if Mervo is available these days so we may need to look elsewhere. There's a brilliant candidate, already associated with this site, but it would be presumptuous of me to put his name forward at this stage.
