Bolsover, in Derbyshire, is known throughout the UK, including the West Country, I'm sure, for three things. These are: 1. The castle 2. The Model (but not in a Babbacombe sense) Village 3. The Beast Not so well known were Bolsover Town FC, despite playing their games at the Field of Dreams. The club, formerly known as Coalite Sports, achieved respectibility in the Central Midlands League Premier Division (actually the second tier of the CML) but went out of business in 2008 having never fulfilled the League's ground stipulations, which included the provision of floodlights. There are still signs of life: two pitches marked out, a cup of cold cocoa in a dugout, the odd f*g end on the grass, but the glory days are over, temporarily at least, for football in Boza, as these images indicate: [imghttp://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj548/wildebeeste/DSCF1748.jpg][/img] But it's not all bad news. Where there's life there's hope, so thank goodness for Bolsover Old Boys aka The Mad Ones. Maximus Consumptionus Lagerus:

I love the small bank of green seats.
I've applied for a job in Bolsover this evening. I hope that container effort isn't the office.
Coalite sounds like a piece of history now. It was big at one time. We'd probably all heard of it. Former Chesterfield shirt sponsors?

Yep. As a lad I was aware of it only via the CFC shirts though I had no real idea what it was.
Never been to that ground though I was aware a few years ago that a team there was playing in a league where admission was charged and players were receiving payment which I found odd.
