When I leave Bideford and head for Barnstaple, I use the new relief road to get to the Pottington Industrial Estate in Barnstaple. The road goes over a very high bridge that was built over the river that flows beside the town. When on the bridge looking to the right, you get a good view of the towns rugby ground and also the towns football club ground.
I was saddened this morning to see that one of the stands at the rugby ground has been burnt down, there were two men standing beside it surveying the damage. Thankfully it’s not the big main stand as that would have been much more costly to replace.
I have looked for any news of the fire on line but can’t find any, my gut feeling is its arson as not so long ago some old warehouse type buildings next to the ground that I think were not in use, also burnt to the ground.
