So once again we host our former BSP rivals with both clubs having a similar experience of struggling in a season showing that there is still a sizable gap down to the league below despite a newly promoted club in three of the last four years going straight on to league 1.
Burton come to Plainmoor on a run that is as good as Wimbledon's was bad. An away win at Rochdale was followed up with home win against Oxford (4-0) and York (3-1) with their last loss at Coventry in the league cup going down 10-9 on penalties. They were a bit up and down in the first few weeks of the season with that 6-2 win against Wimbledon and a 2-4 away win at Leicester tempered by a couple of 3-0 away losses at Exeter and Rotherham and a 0-1 home loss against new boys Fleetwood.
I quite like the look of Burton's strike force with Matt Paterson, formerly of Southend starting to find the net regularly and partnering Zola up front. As back up they have Richards, formerly of Port Vale and old boy Kee who had a sickness bug for the York game but may be back for a trip back down to Devon. Burton do have a few injuries with Palmer, McGrath and Phillips all out and Holness had to be subbed after 30 minutes tonight so could be a doubt for our game although these absentees are not affecting them much.
Hopefully, Torquay can kick on from our first away win with a similar performance to the Rochdale game as it is the standard we will have to play at to get anything out of this match. I think Ling has a dilemma as to where to play Nathan Craig as he may not be the best option at home and suspect he is destined for the Eunan role but like his former flatmate, will be moved around the side as he becomes established.

No need to worry Jarvis can stand in.
Will be a tough one this, not least as Burton have the likes of Kee and Richards on the bench! On the bench!!

Rather a worry that his knee has flared up again so soon into the season, albeit seemingly through jarring and not a wear and tear injury.
If JArvis plays lets hope we dont play 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 as he is someone who needs another along side him. Would have thought Lingy might have seen that by now.
I'm going for another draw - 2-2.

I think we are playing Plymouth today rather than Burton actually.
I wonder if our new marketing strategy will pay off with a bumper local derby crowd?
Interesting selection choices for Lingy.
Perm any three from Easton, Craig, Morris, Stevens and Thompson.
I would definitely have Easton holding.
I would like a more attacking wide man. I'd go for Thompson, but I'd be happy with Stevens.
For me, Morris has played well this season. But I really do like Craig. He has now played as central holding midfielder and wide on the left. I feel his best position would be on the left of the centre three - where I put him on the pre-season name your team thread.
It would be very unfair on Morris if he were left out, but life isn't always fair.
I'd go front six of Mansell, Easton, Craig, Thompson, Howe, Bodin.

Not sure what the weather is going to do here in the Bay today. It started of very grey and overcast, but the sun has broken out a few times during the morning. Right not the sky looks like it has rain in it and there is a bit of a breeze.
Despite what the sign may say, we all know we are playing Burton today, a club who has always been just that bit better than us in most of the games we have played them. I remember so well the first time they came to Plainmoor, a non league outfit hoping for a cup upset. I seem to remember it was a bit of a boring game to watch and going home that day disappointed with the end result.
Burton 6th in the table while we sit in 13th place, but there are only two points between us and a win today for us could see us rise up the table. We beat and won against what sounded a poor team on Tuesday, I’m sure Burton will prove a much sterner test. But we do need to try and get a good winning run going and its only Burtons home form winning three home games to our one that sees then further up the table than us.
Hope you all have a safe journey to the ground and enjoy the match, as always would love to see as many match reports as possible and your thoughts and views of the match.

I think you are probably right. Thompson had a couple of pre-season runouts through the centre. I think he would offer more as a 70 minute replacement for Howe than Jarvis would.

I was impressed with Thompson when he came on at Wimbledon on Tuesday. Looked so keen and had their (albeit stand-in) defence worried. Macklin and Jarvis yet to impress on the evidence I've seen.

How many minutes has Makilin played this season lambeth? Thompson has looked good a bit raw at times but shows no fear and for me that is key. If he has a bad one it will be how he responds to criticism as players are certain hear the barracking tones from the terraces and are bound to read these boards at times. Whilst Jarvis hasn't set the world alight I still see some quality there and maybe he needs a run of games for that to truly emerge. Strikers need to be playing week in week out and his is a difficult position to be in on the bench every week and then trying to impress for ten minutes at the end of a match.

That's a fair point, Pete, and I'm going on last season really. Macklin was apparently impressive in pre-season. However, my first impressions of Thompson were good, and I think he's done enough this season to consider himself first in the queue when is comes to the final 3rd of the game.

Couldn't make it down for this one today, stats on BBC website suggest we were under the cosh and an equalizer was inevitable. Was this in fact the case?

Under the cosh for 44 minutes of the second half with the Brewers 'keeper not having (that I can recall) one save to make either. Thank gawd they scored so late, as if they had scored 10 minutes earlier they would have won. Apart from the new People Champion (Thompson) our wingers Stevens or Bodin had little (if no) effect on the game. Hampered by Craig going off late in the first half. Sure there will be better match reports later and Arygle won 3 - 2 after being 2 nil down.
