We certainly have had a wide variety of photographs posted on here recently (long may it continue) but that may just be a first. Got to be careful these days as walking about with a camera can get you into trouible as I found out to my cost on a number of occasions....
Still, as long as HRH breasts don't appear up on here then I'm happy. ;D

Sorry no new grounds to add to this thread today. I did look for one at 8am this morning, but could not find it, so I will try to find that one again soon. I asked four young lads who worked at the company I had called on, where the town football ground was. They all live there and only one though he knew roughly where it was. Its no wonder any football club finds it hard to attract new young supporters. I did go to where he said and I’m sure the ground was close by, but did not really have the time to spend looking for it. So instead a football question. Below is a picture of some floodlights, I was told these once graced Bristol Cities ground, but where are they being use now?

Sorry not the correct answer, those lights you can see are in a supermarket car park not an airport. Found a really delightful football pitch this morning and one I have driven as close as 200 yards for more years than I care to remember, but never knew it was there. This may be due to the fact it can be seem from the main road, I will check this out next week when I'm in the same area again. On my look out for pitches to take pictures of to add to this thread, early this morning I decided to take a slight detour and drive through a village, hoping to find any signs of a football pitch. As I got near the end of the narrow main street, I spotted between two buildings what looked like a goal post down in a valley behind the buildings. So I found somewhere to park and went in search of what I thought must be a football pitch. So glad I did as it happens as this pitch really is in a beautiful location and it must be an enjoyable experience playing a game there. The village pub is right next to the pitch, divided only by a small stream. Only when you look at the last picture I have put up, you will see why I would not recommend taking the short cut to the pub ;D So who's ground is this?

If those other lights are in a supermarket car park, it's a fair chance of being Bideford.

So what about that pitch by the stream? any ideas on that one? I did try to take some pictures of another ground this morning, but the gates were locked. Can you get it by looking at a picture taken through the gap in the gates and without making the picture bigger and reading the sign ?

No one got a clue where the ground by the stream is? I will not reveal the answer just yet, but will the one of the ground I shot through the gate.

Through the gates you get a glimpse of Elburton's original pitch. There's an almost brand new pitch - with lights now I think - further beyond cut into the hillside.
Excellent facilities alongside the original pitch.
If the other field was on your way to Elburton it'll probably be in the South Hams. Possibly near to the A379?
But I've never been one for watching matches at a level much beneath the likes of Elburton to be honest.

As opposed to AC Aveton Gifford with the two sets of supporters being unable to agree on how to pronounce the name of their village. Do we have any insights on that one? Or is it just AG?

I have to admit that I didn't realise Aveton Gifford even had a team and thought that pitch was used by the local primary school - but I suppose most villages do have a team even those who don't have eleven male residents under the age of forty! Linguistically I'm in the 'pronounce the V and soft G' camp rather than the 'ignore the V and conventional rules of pronunciation and hard G' camp! There are of course two other lesser camps, the 'pronounce the V and hard G' and the 'ignore the V and soft G', but that's generally people trying to be contrary! Poor old Wildebeeste won't know what has hit him if he hangs around yer too long! ;D
