This type of quote, with missing 'the', is getting more and more prevelant. Surely it should read 'cooked in the kitchen'?
Is it laziness or cockiness?
We hear it more and more, leaving out words that are considered unimportant but are anything but. Even during the Olympics competitors are talking about aiming 'for podium'. What the f*** is that all about!?
It drives me crackers... As for those, especially in the BBC, who insist that everything is 'through', that's even worse. It was non-stop during the Open coverage, "and so Clarke is four-under through seven holes". No he's not, he is four-under having played seven holes, or even after seven holes. He isn't through it at all. And what about the ludicrous suggestion that a player is 'playing seventeen'. No, he's playing the seventeenth hole, or maybe he's playing the seventeenth. Speak English, not American! They are lazy in their speaking, we are not. Why do we insist on lowering our standards to match theirs?

Trust me, this is not even half if it! Worked in some pretty grotty establishments in my time. Worst place (not in Devon) was as a dishwasher in a place at Christmas. Was instructed to scoop the meat, veg and roast spuds from the finished dinners and place them in their respective tubs for them to be served up again! Tried to subvert the process by placing Christmas cracker toys inside the spuds, but the lack of complaints suggests the diners considered this a modern-day equivalent of finding the thrupenny bit in the Christmas pudding

Surely what they're actually saying is "cooked in t'kitchen" and "aiming for t'podium". By 'eck
As a Welshman, I don't have to worry about this as we just use too many words
