The way i read it everybody is in the family stand for the first two friendlies. In effect it will be a one sided ground. They are asking for a decent crowd for the game on friday because all proceeds go to charity, first chance to take a look at the team etc. Cant see more than 1,500 turning up but i presume there will be a contingency plan if needed.

First friendly warm up of the new season tomorrow with all proceeds going to "Help the Heroes" fund. May take myself down to Plainmoor if its a nice evening and only £3 entrance fee £1 under 16s. An opportunity to eye up the completed stand also . Well worth supporting this cause.

I've moved your post Pete to the proper thread. I see from the Herald that only the family stand will be open for this one although BB should be ready by next week and it will be open for the Tivvy match for both fans and players alike.

Not a bad little match to get into the swing of things. Their keeper kept the score down to a respectable 3-0 with Manse looking particularly sharp for us and could have had a second half hat trick. Danny had a simple tap in early doors and Eunan scored towards the end of the half with a penalty after a rash challenge near the edge of the area. Rice had little to do but overhit a pass out to Leadbitter who acrobatically had to head the ball to keep it in and then pick himself up off the floor to just beat the closing down forward and complete the clearance. The crowd thought there was a goal before half time from Danny but it was not given. In the second half, the new signings were on but Manse looked the pick of the side. Always full of running and terrier like sometimes, some pressure almost resulted in a goal when he forced their keeper to make a poor clearance and the long range shot was only just wide! He had a couple of shots well saved by their keeper but got his revenge when the ball came to him after a short corner and some quick feet saw him get his shot off leaving their keeper no chance. Just before the end he had a header that came back off the post when his performance justified a second. A good solid start that saw little or no pressure on our goal.

Thought the team lacked a bit of height - hope the new CB is big, mean and ugly. Wonder if the McPhee (and possibly Macklin) money will be used for an additional striker?

With the gate takings going to help the heroes last night's game was just a way for TUFC and their supporters to thank the Armed Forces for what they do for the Nation especially the Royal Marines who helped to "knock" the players into shape last week.Good sized crowd from what I could make out in the family stand for a game of this nature.ML was getting a look at the squad and waying-up his options and I thought we looked good for this time of the season more tests and bigger ones will be on the way but for now things look good. The Bench looks spot on just work around the edges to sort out (refreshment outlet family end to be finished and exit to westlands etc) no much the media boxes look done, looking forward to the 2012 - 2013 season.

It was an enjoyable workout.
The Marines' keeper was unbelievable in the second half.
It's clear that last season's shape is here to stay - team in both halves was in the classic 4-3-3 (or 4-1-4-1) formation.
Lots of players (I noticed Craig and Cruise in particular) looked extremely comfortable on the ball. You do have to take on board that this was greatly exaggerated by the slow pace of the game, but they do look the kind of player it looks as if Ling prefers.
Rene Howe looks extremely fit and sharp.
Manse was absolutely desperate to score goals - and would have had a hat-trick if it weren't for the keeper's heroics.
