The second half of this Easter double header is a tough one, away at Oxford who looked pretty decent when they visited Plainmoor. Hopefully, with it being a bank holiday, a fairly decent away following will be there to cheer the lads on.
To get into the play offs, Oxford have strengthened their side and Scott Rendell is the name that every Torquay fan will know and has managed to keep top scorer Constable on the bench. They have also brought in Montano just before the loan window and he scored their consolation last time out! On the other side of the coin, Duberry is suspended and I think Leven is out injured so they will have at least two changes in the side from Good Friday!
Oxford have ten points from the last six and were on a good run of form until losing 1-2 at home to Morecambe and 2-1 away to Northampton and now have as hard a battle to get into the play offs as we have to get into the automatics. Looks like it could be a tight game with maybe only one goal in it!
It was both a relief and a surprise that all three injured players in Morris, Lathrope and Howe were able to play on Good Friday and they were able to get us that much needed win. Of the three, I thought Lathrope looked the most laboured and maybe is the most likely not to make this one. However, after he was subbed, I thought Morris did well in his position and could play here with Jarvis covering on the right!
A win here would not only give us the best away record in the league but would also set a new club record as well as the little matter of equaling our 2004 points tally but with four games to go. That year, Oxford finished 9th with 71 points!

Reckon the rigours of the season is beginning to take its toll and on Eunan in particular Has he started every match? I doubt that would have happened under PB he would have been chopping it around after a defeat instead of Lingy keeping with his faithful recipe of players that have done the business. Some players get jaded some thrive, like Nico and Mans whos performance levels have been very consistent. Our problem is we have no real alternative to give his young legs a rest and even at ha;f throttle he still has the potential to win us a match. Thoughy tomorrow and Oxford will see this as a crunch game with Crewe hot on their heals and chasing the last PO place up against Scotty Rendell a huge partisan crowd and our own iffy form.

also agreed petef no alternative,we just have to keep digging deep for 450 more minutes, not easy as all our opponents having something too play for or not seem up for the scap, but one thing in our favour is our never say-die-attitude

Come on Pete, what iffy form? If 2 MotMs, 15 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses since Christmas is iffy form then I am an Oxford supporter! ;D I take your point about Eunan but I think he is fine physically but at only 21 he doesn't quite have the same consistency as the players you mentioned. However, when he is good, he is very good.

Rob I only say that because our recent victories have been far from convincing we have ground out results and had our share of good fortune. On paper yes our form is fantastic and as good as any but as we all know sometimes results don't always tell the whole story. Along with he best keeper we have had at the club in recent years and the recipe that Lingy and the squad has adopted sure is a successful one, though I keep thinking that when our energy levels drop off, or we lose a key player we are going to get found out at some point. Were up there with Swindon on Merit but I cannot think of any other two more contrasting ways it has been achieved and clearly demonstrates that there you don't have to have pots of money and play open expansive football to achieve your goals.

Looks like the trio of players carrying knocks now are Nico, Lathrope and Howe but DD expects all three to be fit! Same side expected to go out but McPhee is ill so Craig, Leadbitter and Yeoman have been added to the squad of 19 travelling up!

5 Cup Finals to go....
and this being one of the toughest.... although we have a decent record at the Kassam, I can see this being a very tense affair*.... history means nothing.
*Please, please, please... not another 1-0 win!**
**oh, go on then... just this once!***
***make the other 4 resounding 5-0 victories!
;D

I see that Rendell is on the bench with Constable starting. Worley and Whing are in for Oxford in the other changes! Same side as the Accy match for Torquay!

Rene Howe scores from a poor back pass by Worley who had just come into the side!
