With the games coming thick and fast this month, we now face a shots team that are bang in form and as Rob has written, winning their last six games on the bounce. This includes four at home against Morecambe (1-0), Barnet (4-1), Southend (2-0) and Hereford (1-0) and away to Macclesfield (0-1) and Wimbledon (1-2). The last three fixtures between us have ended up with a 1-0 scoreline (They did the double over us last year before our win up there back in August) and with two mean defences I can see a similar scoreline.
Team news for the shots is that Troy Brown is suspended after picking up a red card on Saturday and their keeper Worner is out injured for a month with Young covering between the sticks. As always Hylton is the man to watch out for, top scoring by some distance although his fellow striker Madjo has scored a few recently.
We have been lucky on the injury front this year but that luck ran out when Danny sustained his ankle injury and although a detailed prognosis is yet to come through, most are writing him off for the rest of the season and I wish him both a full and speedy recovery. The question is, who replaces him? The only other winger at the club with decent pace is Macklin but he seems to be out of favour but maybe an opportunity beckons? We have no shortage of left footers to occupy that spot with Morris, Halpin, Craig and even LRT having played there. Over to you Mr Ling to work your magic although my feeling is that Morris and Jarvis will carry on from Saturday. Otherwise despite an assured debut from McDonald (season long loan for next year?), Saah will probably return to complete the line up!

our season could well be defined by the end of this month.Aldershot as other games of late will not be easy either.They are on a roll at present and will be in no mood to alter that.Patience and steady nerves will stand us in good stead,i reckon another tight game won by a single goal.
The loss of danny stevens will be felt,as he has improved immensely this season,i would like to see rowe-turner slot in for him,he has bags of pace if not much else,and deserves a full game,been a bench warmer for a long time.
And oh for a decent ref,the dickhead in charge at crawley was one of the worst but one of many,lets hope tuesdays man in black is ok

Did I see/hear that the Shots have signed a couple of players - if so are they any good and will they be playing against us tonight?

They have just signed Michael Doughty from QPR for a months loan and have Josh Payne from Oxford who was on loan to them. Doughty was on a six month loan at the start of the season with Crawley making 18 appearances. He came on as an 78 minute sub against us back at Crawley. Has one cap at Welsh under 19 level. Not sure if he will start after one day with the team.  |

Our last five victories all 1-0 is that some sort of club record ?
Great result again we are so resilient its incredible and back to our "give nothing away" habit after taking a lead.
One goal seems to be enough for us at the moment great keeper helps and some very good defensive habits. Question is how long can we keep riding this wave.
Tough game on Saturday Rovers will want revenge.

Two things made I larf tonight -
Man of the Match: Joe Oastler, sorry Joe but your first touch tonight was awful and not sure what match the St. Dunstans Blind School sponsors were watching tonight. For me either Howe or O'Kane.
Popside Lino: up to the usual shite standard as usual but I've never seen the Lino run off the pitch so fast leaving the players, Ref and other Lino still on the field of play - priceless. Hope there's some TV footage.

Really good win against a decent side that we efficiently and skilfully kept at arms length.
The shots were good on the ball, had the bulk of possession, looked dangerous but only tested bobby seriously just the once - that's how good we were defensively. It was yet another mirror image of most of the 1-0 wins we have achieved this season.
We created and missed a decent amount of chances to get the all important second but overall a very satisfying 3 more points bagged.
Ling really has this team superbly organised and was once again spot on with his selections - Saah and Jarvis starting worked out very well - long may his midas touch continue!
Very nice and important goal beautifully made by Jarvis and O'kane for big Rene too - he was excellent tonight, fancy him to go on a scoring run again in the coming weeks.
What an incredible season we're having!

A professional, assured, comfortable (how often in the past has a TUFC fan been able to say that?) 1-0 win.
I don't find the way we play dull. I enjoy watching the disciplined and ordered approach to the game and we do play some fine football - when we have earned the right to do so.
O'Kane really is a joy to behold and we really should treasure watching him while we can - surely he will go on to greater things.
Any argument over formations is overwhelmingly won for me by the fact that the way we set up gives Eunan freedom to play - and the boy can play.
Not everyone enjoyed his performance though. At one point, he was surrounded by players and with nowhere to go, attempted to flick the ball up over the defender who just managed to head the ball clear at full stretch. "What the f*** was that? He thinks he's better than he is!" was the comment from the bloke behind me. On another occasion, not one, not two but THREE Aldershot players combined to nick the ball off Eunan. "Too weak!" was the withering judgement of the bloke behind me.
Howe looked back to the form he was on before the long suspension - which makes the formation look more solid.
Jarvis had a good game - fitting in well. Saah and Ellis were superb and Olejnik's presence inspires real confidence throughout the team.

What an incredible season we're having! I would fully agree with this assessment jm. Even with Danny out Jarvis has come in and had a hand in both of the goals scored this week and Ling's record with players brought in has been very, very good. This is all the more better considering the time restraints he had at the beginning of the season with his appointment not coming until mid June. I thought the side looked very sharp today with no signs of fatigue generally and the substitutions looked to be spot on!  |

I agree. Lings subtitutions are generally spot on whereas Buckles substitutions were often very dubious.

I actually think that he has grown into that position and may be in line for the most improved player award this season. I've noticed that his overlapping runs are more frequent and causing other defences a lot of problems. It just goes to show that you can convert a midfielder into the right back position!  |

I seem to remember when he first came here on loan, he had played at right back, holding midfielder and centre back for QPR reserves? Wasnt Steve Woods a midfielder originally before changing to centre back? |
