At times, the fixture list of this competition has not fallen kindly for us and having to play a strong youth contingent has seen us been hammered on a couple of occasions! However with just two home fixtures in this league left and the Ling not risking the senior players at the Willand match, this match is much needed. Howe in particular will need some match time with three first team matches coming up in the next week and needs to get up to speed very quickly. Saah made it to the bench yesterday but will probably appreciate a match before he gets back into a league game, along with other fringe players. Then there is the returning loanees, Spear, Palmer, Macklin that Ling will be assessing with a view as to their future at the club. As always individual performances will matter more than the actual result and if anyone is thinking of going, then their thoughts will be much appreciated.

Unsurprisingly, United are playing 4-3-3 in a strong line up with only youth teamer being Ibbotson, deputising for the injured Rice.
Craig is playing but in a three man midfield anchored by McPhee and alongside Yeoman. Halpin and Macklin will be supporting Howe on the Wings. Defence is as expected with LRT, Saah, Palmer and Leadbitter!

Well, we are 0-1 down at half time due to some poor marking from a free kick allowing Moth to glance a header in. After a poor start we seem to have got back into it and seems like a good tough match for Ling to assess the various performances out there.

Goal from Rene Howe after some good work down the left wing from LRT to set up a tap in! 1-1 After seemingly taking control, the Cherries have regained the lead again from poor marking, this time from a corner with Bowles turning in from close range!

Last minute dubious penalty makes it 2 - 2. Then last gasp goal makes it 2 - 3!

At the end of the day, the result doesn't matter. This was the end of match summary comment from the Herald:
ThisisSouthDevon: That was an action-packed end to the game! I would certainly take another look at Nathan Craig, but I'm not sure if Rene will start on Saturday. Taiwo Atieno has been doing well. Bench, I reckon. Rene's two goals were taken with some style, though. He will be happy with his afternoon at the office!

It sounds like LRT had a good game going forward again. He has always done well when coming on as a sub to sit in front of Nico and against Swindon he was winning corners. Plus he can also tackle when needed which our other left sided players cant.
Glad that Rene had a 90minute run out. If there is no reaction i would play him up at Morecambe. Let him give their big centre halves a tough hour and then let taiwo come on and use his pace to give them more worries.
Only realised earlier they havent got a great home record so a good chance of a point or three if all goes well.
