As an exile I don't get to see the whole game, merely the highlights. It's interesting the wide range of views people have about Ellis. Some that he can do no wrong and others bizarrely saying he costs us goals and points. Can I state the bleeding obvious.......we have WON the last 5 home games, scoring 11 and conceding erm, wait for it, an Ellis bashing 1. So how the heck can this be translated into he's a liability, costs us goals blah blah blah. The stats say different. Of course he's not perfect and will drop the odd ricket, that's the nature of football, isn't it?
I'm really liking the rave reviews that Lathrope is getting. It could be that the scouts came to see O'Kane and went away with Damon as the find. It's going to be an interesting month. I hope we get what they're worth and replace them with some other gems.

rather amusing to me that in this fairly good run of ours world war 6 is breaking out about ellis and how good or bad he is,a run tainted only by accy defeat and self destruction at sheffield. In our winless run of 8 games anyone of 8 or 9 could of been picked as at fault for defeat. To me ellis is what he is,a league two defender of no great skill, but willing to give it a go who unintentionally makes the odd howler, thats why he is in this division. atieno had a good game against swindon, yep the same atieno i dont think is league standard, but credit where its due,he gave it a go and was our match winner,i hope he continues to prove me wrong. lets enjoy the good run we are in,we dont know how long it will last, you never know it may not stop, lets beat poxford tomorrow and hammer argyle on monday, and go into the new year with a smile on our faces, even if we might lose one or two of our quality players in the transfer window

I have said my bit on this already and didn't feel the need say any more, however this was an interesting comment Dave especially the "The stats say different". During Paul Buckles reign the stats for him were pretty darn good, does this mean that he really wasn't as bad as you have been saying he was?? "The stats say different" Stats aren't everything, in fact don't they say there are 'Lies, Damned lies and statistics' ? ;D

If only the match sponsors knew what debate they would generate with their MotM. Having been a corporate guest on occasions, I know that a spur of a moment decision between 20 people, many of whom wouldn't normally come to watch a match is neither easy nor unanimous and in this instance only the mis-kick was in front of the family stand and quite easily missed if you are on say a comfort break! ;D As for Ellis, he is a great player for our club and well respected by fans in general. However, to err is to be human and in this match was perhaps lucky to get this award but that's the way the cookie crumbles and there will be many occasions when he is the best player out there but the goal scorer who contributed little to the game will get the gong!

Lets see! Who we gunna pick on next, oh wait a minute, Manse made an error last game as did Nicho, shall we start on them? The board haven`t been slated for a while, what about having a go at the match day announcer or the fact that we now have blue boards down the Grandstand side, shouldn`t they be yellow? No-ones had a go at Deano yet, surely we can think of something, cross-bar challenge music is pants and sounds aweful, there we`re no pies for sale last game..........FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!! This might be my last post on this site for a while as I feel it definitately isn`t the place for me to be, I just don`t get it! I`ve got a new idea that might frighten some people, how about not having ago at people! How about seeing the positives about a League 2 club and the fact that we are doing brilliantly given the circumstances! Doesn`t being constantly negative get depressing some times? Have a happy new year!

I think this forum is generally very positive towards the club and players and as an example, no one has disagreed with my 9/10 team assessment. Everyone has a bad day at the office and surely a forum can debate about the relative merits of each individual performance of a public spectacle as long as it is done in a constructive way as I'm sure it is done privately at the club with the help of video analysis.

Everyone has a bad day at the office and surely a forum can debate about the relative merits of each individual performance of a public spectacle as long as it is done in a constructive way as I'm sure it is done privately at the club with the help of video analysis. Problem is it`s not done in a constructive way is it! As others have noticed `Ellis Bashing` is becoming more popular just like Danny bashing or Carlisle bashing a short while ago! Well it doesn`t sit right with me, maybe I was brought up into sport differently, I don`t know why or even understand the need to label an individuals mistake as an Howler or the inevitable error! If people are so worried about an individuals errors then surely they should be asking the manager why he has selected that player instead of vilifying the player, and if you want to go down that road then it must be the boards fault for choosing the manager who chose said player! Well it`s all b0llocks, some players can miss-kick a ball or get a pass wrong and nothing is said so why are some picked out and not others? The clubs video analysis and comments are not for public scrutiny and are in no way designed to belittle or degrade any player, the club has a responsibility to not publically humiliate players unlike some fans feel is their God given right to do so, just because they paid their entrance money, if you paid to get into any other form of event and hurled some of the sh1t I`ve heard being directed at our lads then you would have to expect to be arrested! No amount of entrance fee gives anyone the right to direct foul and abusive language (sometimes racial) at anyone, it`s illegal! Some of the comments, the way they are phrased, on here verge on public humiliation and ridicule! It`s not acceptable in my opinion and I am fed up of trying to make this point! I am in no way pointing the finger at any one individual but think that everyone before going into bat against one of our own should take a good hard look at themselves and exactly what it is their going to post about a player. I don`t have a problem with constructive criticism, it should be used to highlight certain issues but this labeling of players mistakes and attempts at witticism need addressing and putting to bed! Or do some people think it actually helps? Why do you think the players have used the term "Haters" when referring to some certain fans? The players love it when the crowd erupts in cheers of support but they also struggle to understand why certain players get nothing but abuse hurled at them, anyone remember Robbo`s reaction to one idiot not so long ago? Eunan`s a prize example of coming to the club and being told he`s too light weight and now the whole of the Pop-side sing his name! More constructive stuff please and less name calling and abuse would be very welcome. I`m not saying lets all be happy clappy as some would like to suggest I`m saying but just less arsey and nasty about things!

What a great game it was on Boxing Day, great atmosphere and a great performance. I will be the first to admit that I had doubts about Atenio's ability to step into Rene's shoes, but he had a very good game, particularly first half when I thought he held the ball up well. Lathrope I thought was outstanding and we should be trying to sign him up soon as I think his contract is up this coming summer. Let us hope we can take this performance into the Oxford game, another very tough match.

Carlisle and Danny have had it from the crowd. So has Robbo. McPhee possibly always will from a section of our support. It should never happen to one of ours. Yes, many might groan at the odd thing during a match, but to centre on one player at a match and shout continual criticism is not on and generally destructive. And I certainly agree with rjd's 9 out of 10.
Ellis wins a header and hundreds are delirious, as far as I can see. A bit different. In fact - the complete opposite.
Why vilifying a great poster and fan like Jon for pointing out three howlers meaning the man of the match award should have gone elsewhere is seen as fair game, I really can't fathom. Not to mention other reasoned observations by posters encouraging debate in this thread.

Oh well. Time to focus on Swindon's big rivals. Here's to another clean sheet and three points.

Where did I vilify Jon, I pointed out quite clearly that no-one was being singled out and that my post wasn`t directed at any particular individual! You clearly have totally not understood what I wrote, Jon nows me well enough to know that I wouldn`t have a go at him and I think he`s big enough to not need you wading in for him pal! How come Rob understood where I was coming from?

I see Swindon won 2-1 against Wigan today to put them out of the FA cup and just shows what a good result this was against them!
On a brighter note, with new signing Benson scoring today, Bodin didn't even make the bench of seven and maybe this will put Di Canio in a better frame of mind when deciding on his future over the next few weeks!

Just as well he wasn't part of the Swindon squad today - imagine the poor director scuttling down the touchline to tell Di Canio that Bodin wasn't actually available as he played for Torquay against Sheffield United as Bill Phillips had to with our former Dear Leader when Robinson was selected against Hereford! I reckon we would have seen Di Canio's head explode with rage!
I would be very surprised if Bodin doesn't come back to play regular football with us by the end of January.
