A quite incredible turn around in form who would have thought after Southend we woul dhave produced three wins with nine scored and none conceded with two derided players in Ellis abd Stevens playing major roles. Brilliant.

The clean sheet is the best aspect of this for me - maybe a tilt at that record! 289 minutes so far - just another 700 odd to go! Also really nice to score a fair few goals away from home and just shows how our confidence is at the moment. Into the top half of the table and things are really looking up! I don't think we will see many "told you so" Cambridge supporters here tonight!

According to the Crewe FC site, Torquay passed the ball with great confidence and were the best footballing side we have yet faced this season"
Funny enough, it was against Crewe at Plainmoor on January 15th this year, during the first half in particular, that we put in a good footballing performance and nice to see that Ling has continued to take the evolution of our club forward playing in a manner that most of us want to see!

Brilliant display all round today. It was noticeable how poor the bench players were when they came on. Maybe Atieno and McPhee moved out to allow scope for better squad players coming in.

Difficult as it was a great team performance. Ellis definately as he attacked everything. Got most balls in the air, good on the ground and threw his body at the rest. Lathrope did a brill job filling in in front of the defence, cut so much out by being in the right place. Howe held the ball up brill and brought others into play. When Atieno came on and tried to do this, he lost the ball which went straight back to putting pressure on the defence. Looked like they targeted Nicho but he held firm. Bobby so solid in goal. How many is that? 1, 2, 3 oh who cares? What a performance!

The bench this season appears to lack that extra bit of quality in order to change a game. Lets hope Howe stays fit and Bodin isn't picked for the sheep Sha**ers again - why do they want to play Football, they can't.

There might be the lack of quality on the bench to change games but I think that is the reality of being a club of our stature at the current time - with the demands of both the external environment that we exist in and the demands on the finances with the new Grandstand and the development of the training ground. It is frustrating that we will lose Bodin on Saturday (although would Chesterfield have let him play anyway?), he's really got something about him.
I didn't think that there would be enough within the existing squad to keep us out of the bottom 6/8 only a few weeks ago. I think that it has helped that players like Eunan, Rene, Stevens, Lathrope and Ellis have raised their games hugely - things have 'clicked' again, I don't believe that those players were not giving 100% effort, but I think that their confidence was knocked for a while. To come-back so convincingly from what appeared to be a tailspin is something that deserves a huge amount of credit. We couldn't just bring-in players on-loan in the same way that we have for the past four years - and Ling was right, the answers were within the squad. Hopefully that will continue to be the case!
It's been a fine few results, hopefully that when we go on a barren run (as it will happen!) it will reassure people that by going about our business, sticking to the principles of playing in the 'right way', working hard and staying cool will mean that people will stay behind the manager and players all the way.

Thanks for your thoughts Lambretta.
Ohtobe - It is Swindon not Chesterfield that may not want Bodin to be cup tied.
SB - Technically that is no points!

Well I like your thinking - not a question of if but when! Of course, our next league match is against Plymouth.

Will Buckle be a manager by the time we play Plymouth?

Well that made great listening and had me and Gray dancing on the cyber terrace!! Superb performance. Can someone answer this question for me..........is it the intrduction of Lathrope into the middle to break up attacks that has made the difference? Whereas we were caught on the break too often he seems to have hardened the MF and protects the back 4. Sort of reminds me of the Hockley role that allowed Aggy and Fowler to be so effective. Also great all round effort from Howe, it sounded like he was a real handfull.
Now we really need to push on. Not too bothered about the Cup (tho the dosh would be nice, we never seem to get the cherry). If we can get something from PV then we should be looking at 7 points from the next 9. Note to Mr. Ling.......Make sure the players know exactly how important it is for us to win against the GAWS. A draw is not acceptable and defeat is unthinkable. We owe them bigtime and they need to be shown NO mercy whatsoever. No pressure there then!
