You even sprout shit about the away support figure... 385 was the correct figure. Wasn't hard to find. To be fair Ospel, radio devon reckoned it was around 600 fans there. Not that good at guessing presumably? Somewhat disappointing that it was less than 2k home fans this early in the season, what with it being half term and the ticket offer as well

One swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, and we can thank some suicidal stuff from Wimbledon for the slightly flattering scoreline, but we didn't look like a relegation side last night and there were some encouraging signs.
Particularly amused, as the rat-faced bloke near me who never has anything good to say about anyone or anything looked enraged as the third goal went in. He'd obviously come with high hopes of being able to vent some bile at his team last night and they ruined it for him. Poor man...

Coming home late my misses put on the computer and I asked her to shout up the latest score, 4-0 she said, thats enough of your messing around whats it really? I had to go up myself and look at it on the monitor to believe it. A very good result. We need to follow this up with another 3 points on Saturday.

I was expecting Meerkat to substantiate his statements but instead we got another stupid post from the man... Something else. Regarding the commentators on Radio Devon: nuff said if you ask me.

Pot to kettle I think - You can "spout" shite I think but as far as I know you cannot "sprout" it (unless of course big fat turds suddenly start growing from different parts of your body). So really you ought to get your own messages sorted out first. I didn't attend the game due to when I phoned up the person on the phone could give me any information as to whether the match was likely tio go ahead so I decided not to risk it. The comment about the 600 away fans was made as it was stated on redio devon - so whether it was actually the estimated figure or not, the fact was that it swelled the crowd. Therefore it is quite ridiculous to suggest that I am telling lies. The away support made a difference to the gate - surely that much is obvious. That said just under 2000 home supporters was a pretty good turnout I would have thought.

To be honest (just for all those that didnt go!!) it was a pretty good team performance. Not at the same level as splattering Shrewsbury last season, but still easily the best this season. The big bonus for me (apart from the result obviously) was the way the midfield shielded centre of defence which gave Saah and Ellis a much easier time of it. I would take issue with the scoreline flattering us though. The three against Maccy flattered us, this did not. We could (and had Atieno and Bodin not messed up good chances) had another 2 or 3 to be honest. That might have been a bit flattering but the 4 was a fair result. Im hard pressed to see how AFCW are in the position they are in. Their defence seemed quite frankly similar to ours against Gillingham. Their attack seemed pretty toothless apart from Midson who was well marshalled by Saah and Ellis. Ademo improved it when he came on, quite pacy but little end product. Most of Bobbys work seemed to be plucking high balls out of the air aimed for Midson but usually inaccurate. He had a couple of shots to smother but looked solid. Danny was certainly the pick of the players in the 1st half. Keep him on the left because he's twice the player he is on the right wing (not literally obviously), that must be 3 out of the last 4 games he's been the best player? (IMO). Eunan was back to the way he can play and to be honest, he needs to be the main attacking midfielder. Manse is a lesser threat up front but a better ball winner. A satisfying team performance which would rate about 8.5 out of ten (if I had to rate it). I would say possibly 3 players below par. The other 8 certainly above it

I had a good feeling for this one with 2 magpies loitering outside my house when I got back from work Surely not the same pair I saw at Ilsham Valley late in the afternoon?

Meerkat, I have no idea what time you rang up but had it started raining around half 6, the way it did in the afternoon, (and there were still plenty of dark gray rainy looking clouds around) l suspect the pitch would have been waterlogged. You would probably been even more p'd off if you travelled, only to have it postponed at 7:30 I suspect

I drove over in the mid to late afternoon, & with the rain showing no sign of relenting it did cross my mind that it could well be a wasted journey.
Although we had a few shakey moments in the first 10 or 15 minutes, it's quite true to say that later in the game we fluffed excellent chances to add a fifth.
A good performance by virtually every player. Bodin didn't really get into it. Atieno is struggling to make an impact at this level & McPhee tried hard as usual without exhibiting any great quality.
Minor observations which shouldn't detract from a good team performance on a very wet pitch.

Maybe I have to put in in another way. Your posts are almost constantly negative, maybe I see it wrong but I don't think so based on other posts made by other members. Maybe try and substantiate your posts a bit more or think a bit longer before you post? I fully agree with your comment about the numbers of the home support.

Weather was nice here yesterday afternoon but as I say I couldn't risk it as the receptionist seem unsure whether it would be on or not. A bit galling to miss the 4-0 victory though. I just couldn't see that scoreline. What a shame Mark Ellis will be dropped again as soon as Robertson is fit In fact I don't care what anyone else says Ellis would be one of my first names on the team sheet. What a cock up Buckle is making at Bristol Rovers. He has been found out as many including me predicted, although I didn't think it would be as quick as this.

The black clouds descended on Torquay at about 2.00pm plunging the town into darkness for an hour or so - us members of the Flat Earth Society thought the world had ended or worse the match would be called off. A quick search on the OS put that worry to bed.
Pre-match talk was about the forthcoming curry being organised by Mr_W, what formation would we be playing (442, 541, 433, who would be in the hole, as Ellis is in the side who do we should for to be included in the Hereford game and would Lingy be here come Saturday (well, the last bit wasn't true).
The game started off in the traditional Torquay manner with the Wombles nearly capalising on a defensive mistake but Bobby was on the ball, catastrophe averted.
Much talk was of the Saah-Ellis combo which apart from Ellis getting caught on the wrong side of the lively Midson were okay.
We seemed not to want to shoot but walk the ball into the net until Stephens (playing a good 45 minutes) ran down the left wing like Billy Whizz and shot and scored with a deflected shot. Torquay 1 nil up, Shirley some mistake, but no and we were.
The wombles number 22 seemed to be caught fannying around and his pocket was picked quicker than Fagan by O'Kane (who on last nights performance will be sold come January) who cleverly lobbed the keeper - 2 nil up.
Several passes going adrift, not sure if the Force was with us or the wind had blown it off course.
O'Kane became providor for Howe with a pin point cross, 3 nil up before half-time. Talk was of could we actually win this match.
Charlie 'The Fax' Ademeno' came on just before half-time and proved a lively customer.
The second half started with the Wombles on the attack against a Torquay team minus Stephens (Atieno taking his place on the wing) but we stood firm.
It was Atieno who provided the pin point cross, well bad cross into the box which two of our players missed a chance to make it 4. Out the ball came to Howe who blasted it into the net from 20 yards or so 4 nil, 4 NIL..
The Wombles to their credit tried to get a goal but to no affect. You can see why they have shipped so many goals of late.
MOM - O'Kane with 300 or so Wombles fans (looked twice that!).
Still think that a solid CB is required along with another striker is required. Nice to be 6 points clear of the drop and with Plymouth getting pumped 5 - 1 a good time to be a Torquay fan.
;D

I was going to say what a great win last night...sadly, I'm not allowed to say it ...because I wasn't there. Unless I go to a match my opinion is worthless it would seem! That takes me back to my school days when they taught HISTORY...yes, I know I'm an old Bastard 'cause they haven't taught that subject for years in schools now! My teachers would talk about Ancient Egyptians, Greek Mythology...............of course I could go on! So now I've just realised they were talking Bollocks...because unless they were hundreds of years old they couldn't possibly have been there! Then of course I had another thought...they were just giving an opinion without being there...goodness, isn't that refreshing? So then I had a final thought...maybe...those people who thought I wasn't allowed an opinion on a team I've supported for over FORTY YEARS unless I go to a match...maybe...they were talking f**k**g Bollocks!

Your opinion is always welcomed Reg. I can write a match report based on listening to the match on the wireless
