I don't think that Ling really believes that - I just think that it would be madness to come out and admit it, he may be honest when he says that the team have played poorly, but I think that would . I think that he is at the top of his limit in terms of what he can bring-in - financially. He can see that we have a pool of strikers that have managed six goals from open play between four of them in fifteen games so far this season. We are now being consistently over-run in midfield and our defense is sieve-like.
Where on earth does he start? There must be players out there available - after all we let twenty five goals from last season worth of attacking players go for forty grand - not for one minute do I believe that Ling thinks that Atieno and McPhee are genuine replacements! I just think that his hands are tied and there is very little he can do. He was sold a pup with the players he was left with and the budget to replace those that had gone being inadequate. I don't doubt that he will work incredibly hard with the players and I don't doubt that they will work incredibly hard themselves - but the squad has been depleted in quality.
If there is no movement in the transfer market this week (preferably out as well - a couple of our strikers and midfielders might be best served to have a run-out in the BSP / South to improve their confidence) then I will be concerned. If there is any change of manager then I will be desperately concerned and I think that would be a real show of panic and not the way the board have operated over the last 4 1/2 years- I just think that anyone attending the next two matches needs to keep behind the team in the same way that the mass majority have, that as supporters is really all we can do.

onto the subject of bringing loan players in,can you please tell me why would any young players want to come to us to gain 1st team experience when we are playing like this, not exactly a confidence boost for them is it when we are conceding goals for fun,not going to learn anthing there, its a sad time at the MOMENT,sorry we have never had alot of cash to fall back on to bring players in,but the buck is aimed at the manager like in every other team sport,we dont lose the passion or desire overnight, yeah only a 3rd of the way through the season, and yeah not panic stations, but this has to be addressed very quckly...simon

Just seen the goals on the Football League Show - oh dear. Interesting that our old fat, alleged cheating git Steve Evans and Crawley wouldn't speak to the cameras as they thought the BBC would focus on the bad things about Crawley.

Have we had a match report for the Southend match or did someone burn it or stab it with a pitchfork?

Have we had a match report for the Southend match or did someone burn it or stab it with a pitchfork? FULL MATCH REPORT FOR SOUTHEND UTD V TORQUAY UNITED We weren't very good. Result: Southend United 4 Torquay United 1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I headed East on Saturday but am relieved I stopped at Earls Court for the Ski Show and so had an enjoyable afternoon. Manchester United have loads of dosh (even if it is mostly borrowed!) but it's years ago that we lost by 5 goals at home. Sort it out Fergie! We are due to come storming back tomorrow and by Saturday will have two back to back wins to put smiles back on your faces. So just relax and look forward to it

I admire your optimism Stef, but the only "storming" is likely to be the weather

I admire your optimism Stef, but the only "storming" is likely to be the weather Well I actually think the expression "we'll come storming back tomorrow" was very apt!
