Very refreshing to hear an honest assessment of our sloppy performance. "Can't keep on pulling rabbits out of the hat". Hoped that he might hint at the loan market.

Yes, that was a frank assessment by Ling and those defensive mistakes are killing us at the moment! To mount a comeback we have to be on song but sounded like everyone was off colour yesterday possible on a par with the Crawley game, our only other league defeat! At the start of the season, Ling was quoted as saying that we had to build from the back and we need to sort those problems out whether by personnel or formation changes.

Just seen the first Shrews goal whilst having my Sunday morning boiled egg and soldiers - the Shrews winger ran at Nico who back tracked and back tracked passed the ball and Collins appeared to get the ball despite there being 3 TUFC players there. Just wish we had wingers who could run at a defence like Ainsworth

We need Ellis at C.B. and where was Nicho`s covering winger? Damon and Danny are great at going forward but not so good at tackling back and providing cover. Robbo only got 1 star in the paper, having a specialist defensive coach doesn`t seem to be paying off! Also I`d like to add that Chelstons egg and soldiers sounds like a tasty idea!

Sadly the players that ML has brought in just aren't good enough-i.e Saah,Mcphee,Morris

ML wasted all that money bringing in those players.... how much was it ? I remember nothing !

A poor day at the office all round. As many have pointed out the defence does have a rather large Branston shaped hole in it at the moment. Whilst it is not yet quite time to push the panic button, I do hope that Ling is using his considerable contact list to look for a big, bruising and experienced centre back to bring in on loan. It is not rocket science to state that we cannot keep conceding in the manner that we are. I have never been one to pick on individual players, but I think the defence certainly needs a reshuffle. To me there seems to be a lack of concentration at times and the more times we concede early 'sloppy' goals the less confident the players will be. We need a defender who is going to bark orders and organise, breeding cohesion and more confidence. Surely Guy can'y be that happy at Bradford?!!? For all his lack of finesse he did bring that 'steel' to our back four, it seems clear that Robbo, Ellis and Saah need that kind of player alongside them. To top off a bad day Howe gets red carded. How many games do you miss for two yellows?

Howe out for two or three games 2 yellows should mean that he Misses 1 game? Correct although reports I have seen differ and some including the live text on the BBC website state that it was for violent conduct which is a straight red. A straight red is normally 3 games

Correct although reports I have seen differ and some including the live text on the BBC website state that it was for violent conduct which is a straight red. A straight red is normally 3 games I've just looked at the replay and the second yellow was shown first so only a one match suspension! I thought Howe only just clipped the defender's heels who really made a meal of things to earn him a booking! The first goal was blindly crossed into the area so a bit unlucky for Collins, on a late run to get on the end of it although Mansell was initially tracking him but eased off as he came into the area! The second goal was cleared to Mansell and on this occasion, it was his poor control that allowed the ball to fall for Collins. I'm not saying the defence had a good game but I don't think you could blame them entirely for both goals.

I thought Howe only just clipped the defender's heels who really made a meal of things to earn him a booking! Linesman's flag went up immediately Howe made contact with Reuben Hazell. Referee reacted instantly so not sure if Hazell making "a meal of things" - or not - made a difference. Indeed, Hazell limped off after treatment and did not return for the final few minutes.

Gaffer said Rene lost his head and deserved to be sent off, yes he had a torid time with the ref but he has to improve that side of himself if he isn`t going to be a liability. Rene`s a really decent geezer and I am absolutely sure he can get his head around this and improve that side of his game. Like Barton said we were both down to 10 men in the dying seconds, Shrews had used all their subs so couldn`t replace Hazell which is just bad luck really, still it wouldn`t have changed much if they did have someone to bring on as the game was practically dead anyway.

Barts - not disputing that there was contact or indeed it was a foul. I didn't realise he had to go off for treatment and looking at it again, I think Reuben sustained his injury from falling awkwardly and Rene actually went up to him to see if he was alright afterwards so don't think there was much malice in it.

Yes, I'm sure it was the way Hazell fell. There was intent in Howe's action but the damage wasn't necessarily proportionate. You should see the way I stumble when I'm caught unaware. Jon will tell you of how I dramatically almost sprained my ankle in Shrewsbury before the play-off game. I had twinges of discomfort thoughout the summer in a race to get fit for the new season.
