It is a bit awkward this but due to my kids Birthday last weekend, missed the scores coming in for this post and let this drift for another week as I thought there were several members just on the one point. So a week late, the plaudits go to Enzo for a great match report on the Barnet game and it is the away ones that are most popular with members. Enzo has done many many match reports on here since this forum was set up and I am grateful for the time he has spent compiling them!
Is it me or are little things going our way at crucial times at the moment? For a second or two yesterday I thought our automatic promotion hopes were in tatters as a penalty had been awarded with Bobby in danger of getting a straight red. Luckily the fact that Ellis (I think) was in some way covering encouraged the ref to only give a yellow. Barnet had another good shout for a penalty minutes later from a similar ball through our defence to Mcleod. As Ellis and Saah struggled to cope we could have been three or four down at half time.
The ball wasn't sticking up front. Rene has been an absolute workhorse this season, but he was flagging last night and struggled. The same can be said for Lathrope who looked jaded. It is all very good being able to name an unchanged eleven game after game, but this has been a long season for some of our players and many are carrying knocks and niggles. Last night we looked slow in mind and body. Eunan was largely snuffled out, but still impressed with a touch here and there. I expected Jarvis to grab his chance after starting ahead of Morris, but was disappointed. He did not look overly comfortable in the right mid / wing slot. Morris looked far more effective when he came on.
We won the game with the only bit of class throughout the whole evening. The bouncing ball found it's way to Danny approaching the goal at an angle after a Barnet defender had crumpled in an injured heap. Danny coolly lobbed the ball over the Barnet keeper - It was a great finish - Izzy Mcleod then proceeded to blast a couple of similar chances out of the ground at the other end.
It was a little tense for the final half hour, but whilst Barnet had plenty of pressure they did not look quite a dangerous as they had in first half. Ellis and Saah got stronger as the game went on. As Barnet stretched we had one or two chances ourselves - Danny had a heavy touch and a decent chance was gone. The LRT had two decent runs and shots. Barnet huffed and puffed, but we ended up seeing the game out without too much trouble.
Having seen a few games recently I have been very disappointed with our dead ball deliveries. We have had loads of free kicks in decent areas and with Nicho and Eunan in the side I want more of an end product. Yes, we scored from a corner against Vale, but we have wasted an awful lot of free kicks over the last few weeks.
A very negative report for a team that has just won 9 out of 11 away games and are currently sitting 2nd in the league! On a positive note, Morris looked very sharp when he came on. Oastler was strong and continues to grow as as a player. Bobby was Bobby - the best keeper I have seen in a Torquay shirt and Danny provided a decent outlet and a classy winning goal.
75 points pretty much assures a Play Off place at the very least. A fantastic effort all round. With little things going our way, I really think an automatic slot is now there for the taking if we hold our nerve. What a perfect time to do it? The combination of a new stand and a new league may well tempt a few disheartened Argyle fans not wishing to experience conference football up to Plainmoor next season.

Another tremendous away win, but I doubt anyone who witnessed it would argue that Barnet did not deserve something out of this game. Even the players looked a little embarrassed as they celebrated at the end. This performance was not too much better than the one at Southend where we got hammered. Funny old game eh!
