It was ninety years ago tomorrow that the new Torquay United lifted its first trophy, the Devon Senior Cup, at Home Park. This fantastic action shot from the following Monday's WMN, captures the very moment of the winning goal. Freddie Burch, whose 30 league goals had fired Argyle to the Southern League title in 1913, went on a jinking run past two players and fired in a shot which the keeper could only parry out to Babbacombe boy Frayn who was snapped netting the rebound. Teams and report from WMN: More on Burch here: www.greensonscreen.co.uk/gosdb-players2.asp?pid=121&scp=1,2,3,4,5,6,7

This item was found in a drawer in Derbyshire of all places. It once belonged to A.Sayer-Poll the trainer of the newly formed club. This staff pass or season ticket gave access to the old pre Buckfastleigh grandstand.
