.......Oh yes sirree, the gang are back.........
............"This Is England '88" - I have been watching this, what I reckon is Shane Meadows' finest work, right from the start, the original TIE film and the first follow-up TIE 86 - truly wonderful acting and development of main characters, gritty realism, not for the faint-hearted, I won't discuss the plot here in case anyone wants to get the DVDs of the two previous parts of TIE to catch up except to say the whole cast are continually acting out of their skins, and the main character Lol (Vicky McClure) is particularly well played - in fact Vicky got a BAFTA for her portrayal of the part in TIE 86 I do believe.............
................I understand Shane believes strongly in the characters just blagging and impro'ing some of the scenes which I think only adds to the great drama of it all - in particular the harrowing scenes at the end of TIE 86 whch got Vicky McClure her BAFTA I reckon, he only had the actors, him and the camera-man on set, some of the finest acting from Vicky I reckon since Yosser had his kids taken off him in "Boys From The Black Stuff" (Bernard Hill) and that WAS powerful believe me - all in all fully recommend to anyone wanting to catch up with it - engrossing viewing - I think Shanes' going to do a TIE 90 as well, with the rave scene, Es, baggy Skank Mank Music, the Mondays and the Roses etc - can't wait - will deffo get the full boxed set at the end when its' all over - oh and fab soundtracks as well...............
..........I rather hope my learned friend Mr_Bencurrie (aka Treegull junior), also being a huge fan of this may comment?..........
