Since my last report Buckland have gone through a rough patch, and have been hammered by Bodmin 7-0 drew with Dartmouth 1-1 and in this match long serving captain Ben Williamson had a double fracture, probably ending his career.
A clash against league leaders Launceston, was not what the doctor ordered but it would be an ideal opportunity to get their seasson back on track.
Buckland had brought two new signings into the squad and ex dawlish defender C Fenner made his debut to replace Ben Williamson after his injury.
Buckland played against the strong wind in the first half, but on the break Buckland`s player manager was put through two times but on each occasion failed to make the keeper make a save.
Launceston looked a different team from previous seasons and were very quick to get players forward , but Kenny Griffiths in the home goal made some good saves and his handling was spot on.
Half time came and it looked like this game had 0-0 all over it as both defences were on top. with Buckland hitting the cross bar from a close range header by Lynch again.
with time running out on 73 minutes a specualitive cross come shot, by captain Danny Lewis looked to be going out of play but the ball cept in at the far post. 1-0
2 minutes later Dean Stevens cut in from the right to hit an unstopable shot into the top right hand corner of the goal giving the clarets keeper no chance at all. 2-0
Time was running out and with 88 minutes on the clock the scoring was completed by Si Revell, the keeper who miscued a clearance, the ball fell to Simon who shot from just inside the opposition half and from fully 40 meters hit a shot over the stranded keeper to give the yellows a well deserved 3 points and maybe this will kick their season off again.
Launceston to their credit never gave up and they will be in with a shout, when the trophies are given out in May, they will surprise a few teams along the way and they will take points off some of the fancied teams.
my mom Danny Lewis
Attendance around the 150 mark
