Not really sure what started me thinking about this but can any of those of an older disposition (certainly eligible for Club 55!) remember these groups touring in South Devon. I'm fairly certain I saw them on a double bill (think Small Faces were the lead) in Exeter, round about 1968.

.......although this doesn't EXACTLY answer your query, it still gets very close to it!....... ...about half way down the page, there is a reference to "Bee Gees" playing at "Exeter Top Rank" - 26th April 1968.......... ...a very interesting site anyway!!!...... www.marmalade-skies.co.uk/apr1968.htmand also www.peterice.com/exeter_nostalgia2.htm......the one person who MIGHT know all about this sort of thing may be Lionel Digby - possibly via Guy Henderson on the Herald Express may be a starting point - he may know how to contact Lionel??.................

Mr_W's second excellent link gives us the answer to the Small Faces piece of the jigsaw too. They headlined the St Luke's College Summer Ball two months after the Bee Gees were in town. Marmalade were second on the bill, but both bands would have been blown off the stage by the mighty Adge Cutler and the Wurzels - they look bad, they smell bad and by golly they be bad.
