Well, this is today's offering from a very wet and windy Karlsruhe which is 30 miles northwest of Stuttgart.
The Wildpark Stadion holds around 32,000 and is used by Bundesliga 1 side Karlsruher SC. The ground itself is about a mile or so from the city centre and is situated in the Hartwald forest.
I have to say that I rather like this stadium. Although it looks a bit crappy in places it does have a certain charm about it which is being lost by clubs uprooting sticks and moving to slightly souless stadiums. One side reminds me of the old Neckar stadium in Stuttgart (think Euro 88). The other side is only about 10 or 12 years old.
One of their youth trainers who's permission I asked to take some photos in the first place said that the club do plan to move to a new stadium in the future but as yet they haven't come up with anything concrete. He also said that they are struggling a bit this year after selling last years two best players (Eggimann to Hannover 96 and Hajnal to Dortmund) to balance the books. The replacements they've bought haven't papered over the cracks as yet. Nice bloke though. Across the road from the stadium there are numerous training pitches which were full of kids being trained by the club.
