Aah the infamous Brand and Ross phone call!! Total over reaction in my view, can't see how it is quite so offensive as people are making out. If you are listening to a Russell Brand show that is the sort of humour you like, if not don't listen.
Maybe Andrew Sachs was offended, if so let him complain not everyone else getting on their soapboxes.
Interestingly there were only 2 complaints made after it was aired, then the Daily Mail printed one of their tiresome "outraged" pieces and suddenly 10,000 people complained! I'm willing to bet that absolutely none of these complainers actually listened to the show!
Maybe they would be better complaining about the dreadful, reactionary rag that they read about it in!

What really annoyed me though was when Gordon Brown and David Cameron started commenting on it, haven't they got more important things to worry about? Like sorting out our economy?

Thats true Jerry and putting It on here was only done without knowing what It was, I just went to you tube and opened the first one I found on the front page, to show nickgull how to do It. Just Dave's luck he picks one that Is causing so much fuss at the moment. I do agree that Brown etc have far more important things to be getting on with and fail to understand why they have got involved.

According to all reports there's no 'maybe' about it. Andrew Sachs was very offended. And as for 'let him complain' isn't that one of the major points of contention, the fact that he did complain & make it clear that he didn't want an answerphone message claiming that someone had "f*cked his granddaughter broadcast. But what use did complaining do ? ...it made no difference, the BBC ignored his plea completely. It was only when the facts of the matter reached the public and tens of thousands joined him on his soapbox that the BBC has actually bothered to listen.
I don't see that complaints made at the time it was aired would give an accurate reflection of peoples opinion on this. Watching the programme when it was aired wouldn't reveal to you how upset Andrew Sachs was by this or the degree of embarrassment his granddaughter was feeling as a result of the BBC transmitting those comments, nor would it tell you that when Mr.Sachs refused them permission to broadcast it they went ahead & did it anyway.
To say it's people complaining because they didn't find a programme funny misrepresents & trivialises the reasons behind a lot of peoples anger at the BBC over this issue, it goes far deeper as to whether it made us laugh or not.

I have changed the title Of this thread, It started Of as a question, asking about posting videos. I used the first one I found On You Tube and It has had posts made about It, so It seems best just to rename the thread.
This was one Of the things discussed On the J.Vine show today and I took the time to listen to all the facts and arguments. My own view Is that this prank was In bad taste and I question, should the BBC even have these types Of radio shows.
Radio 2 has always been a flagship for the BBC, the daytime content Is first class, so why the need to have shows like Brand & Ross on the air. Ross gets paid a very large sum by the BBC and let us not forget Its the people who pay the license fee, who are paying for a show that In my view pushes the boundaries to far.
The BBC may well be fined a large sum now, so Ross should pay the fine out Of his huge wage and not out Of the money the public pay. There are far better ways to make people laugh, than get up to pranks Of this nature, Brand has given up his job, Ross should do the same Or just be sacked.

The worst thing about the whole affair is that it seemed to make the news ahead of the impending human tragedy in the PDR Congo, Hungary being bailed-out by the IMF, news about the potential clarification on the law relating to assisted suicide and an earthquake in Pakistan.
That's probably a more damning indicment of the state of the media that force-feeds us this s*** and believes that anyone really should be interested in it ahead of things that REALLY matter!
As for Ross, I'm must admit to being amused by his R2 Radio programme years ago when I used to listen to it, but his talk show is pretty bland and this was a pretty poor taste display and if he had any sense he should really move-on.

ohtobeatplainmoor, you are so right and I to fail to understand why such a story has taken top spot In all the news.It was said On the radio that the government were happy that It was the main news, as It got the credit crunch etc out Of the news, at least for a day Or so.
Why Is that some events where many die, only get some ten second report near the end Of the news, why do we not hear more about the suffering that goes On to our fellow human beings In other countries.
Being made more aware Of the real news and big issues, may help people to decide to see what they may be able to do, in the way Of help.I do wonder what It says about us, when the media know that stories like the Ross one, will be a big hit and get the results they wanted.

I see Ross has been suspended for three months without pay,by the BBC and given a final warning. He will lose over one million pound In wages during this time, sorry but he Is over paid and I think the BBC could spend the views money so much better, than paying Ross such a huge amount.
I know the commercial channels would not have let him get up to such pranks as he did, If they did the advert moneys would soon disappear.

To be honest Andy after taking the time to listen to tape Of what was said and left on the answer phone, I fail to understand how anyone could defend It and say It Is comedy.
Sack him and bring back Z cars, that has to be better viewing ;D

I have to say I agree with Jerry.
The whole thing has been a complete joke from start to finish.
Ross and Brand carrying out the prank: ridiculous. The producers allowing the phone call to be broadcast: scandalous. The Daily Fascist's hate campaign: laughable.
I'm not condoning what Ross and Brand did, but this whole thing has been blown out of proportion by a newspaper that takes pride in the downfall of others. I'm not a massive fan of Brand or Ross, but they did a stupid thing for which they apologised. Mr. Sachs came out and said that he accepted the apology and just wanted it to all be brushed under the carpet. Then his gobby granddaughter comes out and makes it a lot worse for him.
"I can't believe they've done this to me," she wailed. "This has changed my life forever!"
Sit down sweetheart, no one knew who you were last week and, to be honest, nobody knows who you are now. Or cares.
And unless you want the Rebecca Loos entry to fame where you'll end up knocking off farm animals on a terrible Channel 5 show, I suggest you shut up.

It is all totally and utterly irrelevant to reality. a couple of idiots ( who can on occasions can be entertaining) make a pretty tame ( in this day and age) telephone call. compare that with people dying all over the world. Look what is happening in DR Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq etc etc and this pales into insignificance!! Wake up everyone!! This is a non-story to deflect us from what is happening elsewhere in the world and gives this governement an opportunity to distract us from the economic disater that is upon us
