Buckland made the journey up to North Devon to play Ilfracombe in the extra preliminary round of the FA cup.Ilfracombe play in the western league premier division which is one step above the south west peninsula premier division.
When we arrived we were made most welcome by our host and dad and i put up our flagsup beside the away dugout.
The pitch was in good condition but it had a large slope on it from end to end and had a twist in it going from side to side,
It was clearly evident that the arrival of the league champions from South Devon had not got the imagination of the North Devon public.and a head count of 83 was all that came in through the gate. with about 15 from South Devon.
Buckland kicked off and within 58 seconds New signing Dean Stevens picked the ball up and went on a mazey run and shot from the edge of the box and beat the home keepers near post 1-0
6 minutes later Michael Booth was near the goal line and forced the ball home, the Bucks faithful could not believe what they were witnessing, as they tore into the combe defence playing some class football.2-0
Buckland scored again when ex Dawlish player Gary Fisher scored with a great shot in the 29 minute. the blues of ilfracmbe looked shell shocked as they trudged off the pitch.
HT 3-0
A few cups and saucers must have been thrown in the home changing room as combe came out a different team and had a lot more posession but Buckland weathered the storm (literally) as the skys opened for most of the second half.
In the 75minute got a fourth when Si Revell scored the best goal of the game when a good move and a great finish gave the yellows a 4- 0 lead.
Kenny Grifiths made a first class save diving to his left to keep a clean sheet.and with this a place in the next round.
The Referee brought an end to the game, and with it Buckland s name would be in the hat for the next round, this would be the first time Buckland had won a game in a national competition in 3 years of trying.
Buckland have since found out that they have been drawn against Taunton Town away on the 3rd of September where a good following, are sure to make their way up the M5 into Somerset.

Special thanks to Ilfracombe who were perfect host and a few friends were made between between the two teans and club officials
