Wonder why they were called Hartlepool"s" Utd in this era. Must have been the season when we had all that snow looking at the fixture list and not to dis-similar weather to this years awful winter. Strange also to see so may years on such a familiar league table with Ourselves Oxford Gillingham, Lincoln and the mighty Bradford City all in a similar position 48 years on. Only player I remember on the team sheet is Alan Smith who was around when we got promoted and played in div three when I started to watch under Frank O''Farrell.

Wonder why they were called Hartlepool"s" Utd in this era. From an August 2010 posting: Hartlepools United? Yes indeed until 1968. The team of the two Hartlepools as this map from the 1960s should explain. These days maps tend to refer to the whole area as “Hartlepool” with the “old” Hartlepool as “The Headland”.
