Here is the programme for the Torbay Herald Cup Final played at the Recreation Ground, Newton Abbot on Good Friday, 16th April, 1965. Played between Kingsteignton Athletic and Torquay United ‘A’ I have decided to pop it on here this week as I was lucky enough to share a car up and back to Old Trafford with John Cunningham, United’s captain and number 5, who also gets a mention as the Devon County skipper. I’m going to ask him if I can do a feature on him and the ‘A’ team to add to our history room and which will hopefully give a little more insight into how it was back then. Incidentally John is still a regular attendee at Plainmoor and was chuffed to see his face in one of the team photos currently hanging in the corridors of the Family Stand. For the 1960 Herald Cup Final featuring Torquay United ‘A’ see: www.torquayfansforum.com/index.cgi?board=6070

John Cunningham was a cracking player and followed manager Ralph Calland to Brixham United, first as captain and then later as manager when Brixham went on their Western League adventure.

John Cunningham at Old Trafford for our play-off game against Stevenage, with his son Shaun and somebody's wife!
