August 1957 - there's a lot in this one at the start of the season after the infamous "near miss" on goal average. This season is the most vital in the history of the club" says the Trekker because we don't want to be in that new Fourth Division cess pit, do we? Sadly....
Efforts to sign Andy Graver from Stoke (he was to go to Lincoln via Boston), Eddie Brown (who remained at Birmingham for some time before heading to Leyton Orient) and Tommy Northcott (who was to arrive in November 1957).
Meanwhile a belated welcome to Colin Bettany who, fifty-three and a bit years later, was to be seen on the Plainmoor pitch just a few weeks ago (against Gillingham too, wasn't it?).
