On another thread, we learn that Rushden look like they will be clearing out players, this must be due to the club not being able to substance a high wage bill. Bartondowns posted that Rushden has the advantage of income-generating facilities, but low gates and seeing It Is in the hands Of one man, he could well now feel how Bateson ended up feeling.
Our gates are also low, compared to how they were last season and I think we all agreed that the credit crunch has played a part In that. So Its my view that the club must make even greater effort to try and maximize all the possible Income revenues It can.
I posted three hours before the event that Darren Batten was sacked, I also believe the man who took oner his job(just a different job title) Is also no longer at the club and this has been for a while. Maybe his departure was also to save money, who knows, but Is enough being done to get more money Into the club through Boots and Gulls Nest.
I' m not sure If there Is now anyone at the club who's job It Is to really promote the Gulls Nest and Boots, but the money these two places could bring Into the club could In my view be so much more.
What has the club done to make me a supporter, spent any more that what It costs me to get into the ground. I would not be wanting a carvery, thats for sure, but I would go Into Boots and spend some money If there was something happening In there, that would Interest me.
I also feel that special TUFC midweek nights could be put On In Boots, so we the fans would then spend money In the week and not just on a matchday. Not only would having these special nights raise income, but could be used to get the fans closer to the club.Start making fans feel so much more a part Of It and Not just every other Saturday.
What sort Of things do you think could be put On Midweek at Boots, that would make you want to go there for the evening.?

...one thing i would like to see is a game by game auction of the following. The highest bidder for that game gets a squad number and place on the team list of the programme. Don't laugh but i would pay. If things go the way of SEVEN named subs then maybe even a place on the subs bench, not coming on of course. Why not?

Not to sure what you mean by a place on the team list Brett, but I'm sure you will explain, the point Is how much would you pay.

I just mean when the programme for that match is printed each time the winning bidder gets a squad number. 87 Billy Bill - next programme 87 isnt there and 88 Dave Rmelovely - something to keep. i'd pay about £1000 if it meant i was on a (7 deep) subs bench. I'm sure i'll get some stick for a silly idea, but i know other teams Have done this admittedly a one off which meant the supporter had a squad number onthe programme for th whole season.

As a lady(sorry boys but I am)I would like to see meet the players nights, a chance for them to talk about themselves, their views On football and their hopes for the future etc.
Also there must be plenty On games on tape, so Torquay United best games put on a big screen and If there were players who played In any game, try and get them to Boots, to talk about the game afterward.

Brett better price DVD's would be nice, but I was looking for ways to get more people involved with the club during the week and not just match days, as It Is now.

Brett
Since Orient did a raffle in the cup a few years back I too have felt there was an opportunity to raise money. Step up from being a mascot: A regular raffle to be a player for the week. Could include a training session, seat on the coach if away, sitting in on part of the pre match team talk, warm up and place on the bench and as you say name in the programme. Ideal chrimbo pressie for us saddos who`ll never grow up and continue to dream that we will get Man utd away in round 3 and play them off the park in front of 17000 non stop singing gulls.
As for the social club - the club needs to explore ways of bringing people to the club. Before the season began I sent Utd an email which contained numerous match day ideas. One of which was setting up a "young gulls" club. At Ipswich they have the Blues Crew. Membership allows you to have birthday parties at the ground, tours of the stadium, meet the players etc. The opportunities are endless if they also link up with Frankie Prince and the great work he does. I suggested they also extend this to match day and have part of the ground restricted to "young gulls" only, and with really cheap admission such as £1. The club could issue them with drums, horns flags etc with the instruction they make as much noise as possible. They could have a section of their own in the programme. encouraging these kids to come along and use the facilities would I`m sure generate revenue, atmosphere and a future fan base.

As you know Buster, your emails fell on death ears and even your thread Sean you asked for It came to nothing. With things the way they are now, don't think Sean will be putting our Ideas In for us. Maybe I could start a thread, just for things we would like the club to address, or ideas we think they could look at to improve the match day etc The forum could then present the thread to the board and see If we can get a response.

Dave
worth a try, but can`t seem to erase the image of Norman bates` mum in a rocking chair. Can`t think why I`ve made the connection.
Last post of the week. Got a 5 day pass from the eastern front so heading off to the sunny riviera. May see you in the pop. Though he stands at away games, I havn`t convinced my lad to stand at home yet, but you never know.

I agree with Anna, these two suggestions would certainly appeal to a large number of supporters. Maybe once a month, maybe combine both, make an evening out of it. A big game from yester year with a player from that game and also a current player. A bit like a sportsmans evening without the £495 per table. Surely if it was a minimal entry fee, or free, that would entice quite a few and the profits could be made over the bar/food??

Yes tufc01 Anna's Idea would be a good night out and as you say a small fee could be charged, Or they could just enjoy the extra takings at the bar. I'm sure there are so many things that could be done to get us all to the club at other times other than going to the match.
I also feel that as I have said many times that our board seem so distant to us the fans, that such nights could start to bridge the gap. Maybe one Or two from the board could attend each Of the special nights and might do a 10 Minute talk with the fans.
