Last day for sponsor gathering, hope the weather is kind tommorow! I hope its kind as well Aussie and I’m not going to pretend its not going to be a very emotional day for me, so expect to have to give little old Dave plenty of hugs and cuddles along the walk. This morning I have been thinking back to the week in the middle of October last year when Carol and I walked the Torrington to Bideford line. I think we both knew in our hearts that that week was going to be the very last week we would ever go out on walks together ever again. The thing is we both never told each other that as to do so would have meant we had given up hope and that is something we would never have done. If you read my report on that walk you will learn of the concerns I had before we set off from Paignton to do the walk as I really felt she was just too ill to do it. But my Carol was determined not to let the cancer stop us from doing what we had planned and that is why I have such great love and respect for her. torquayfansforum.com/index.cgi?board=fansphoto&action=display&thread=6757For over two months after she passed away in my arms, I broke down and cried every single Tuesday and Friday as I drove from Torrington to Bideford and saw the old iron bridge that is just outside Bideford. It was when we got to this bridge that Carol really was becoming very ill and I feared I would have to get some help for her. She had to sit down on the floor (see picture) for a good while as she tried to recover and gather enough strength to carry on and finish the walk. That she did and she made it to Bideford station (see picture) what a wonderful lady she was and I miss her so very much and still really don’t know how I’m supposed to live without her. When we talked about this comeback walk, I don’t believe we ever felt we were going to be able to do it together, but we could dream, hold hands and just pray for a miracle, but that never happened for us both in the end. We just talked about it as if we were going to be doing it as we both due to the love we had for each other, just wanted to protect each other from what we both knew was going to happen to Carol. Carol will be with us on the walk and she will help and cheer us all on every step of the way, Carol will never die and her wonderful sprit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. Her ashes (see picture) will be carried the whole length of the walk and her grandchildren will be carrying balloons they will let of into the sky at some point along the route. I have my very own one as well (see picture) that is so Carol as she just loved dolphins so very much. Doing this walk for Carol and in her name, really does mean so much to me and why I hope you will help to raise as much money in her name in the hope that in the future, such lovely people such as Carol and Ruth ( Stuartb’s sister) do not have to die the cruel and painful death they did. I will be doing a full report on the walk along with some pictures, if you would like to help then please just visit the just giving for Carol web site. www.justgiving.com/walkforcarolMany thanks Love to you all Dave Carol has to stop and rest on the iron bridge.Carol made it to Bideford StationCarol will be with us on the walk

Last day for sponsor gathering, hope the weather is kind tommorow! Its not the last day aussie as the just giving website will be up and running for a number of years and so there is still so much time for others to go and visit it and donate to it for Carol and Stuarts sister. See you tomorrow mate. Dave Thank you to all those who have donated to The Walk For Carol either on the Just Giving web page or through sponsoring some one taking part in the walk, it is much appreciated and the money is going to a great cause. Dave has set a target on the Just Giving page of £3,000, so please, please dig deep and lets all help Dave reach & hopefully exceed his target. You can donate by visiting www.justgiving.com/walkforcarolMany thanks, Lou x

All the best for those walking tomorrow, I hope you all have a great day - even though it will no doubt be very emotional for Dave and Stuart B and their families and I'm sure many others.
The forecast is looking promising, hopefully the only thing that will come 'pouring-in' will be donations - my girlfriend works for a clinical research organisation and I know that every single pound that is raised helps towards improving the treatments available.
