I’m sure when we all found about the MP’s expense fiddles we were all very angry as the money really was ours they were enjoying spending. But hot in the news right now the main story is the News Of The World Phone Hacking Scandal.
It has just been announced that Sunday will be the very last day the News Of The World is published and to be honest I’m not very surprised.
So lets hear what scandal out of the two has upset you the most and why. I will give me views later on.

The most odious part of this so far is that this closure will cost a lot of innocent reporters their jobs but Rebekah Brooks and all the other News Corp bigwigs responsible keep theirs, and all will happen is The Sun will go to a 7 day paper. This is a perfect excuse for the Murdochs to streamline the organisation and save themselves a bit of money while continuing to sell the same number of papers. The people who gain are not the public but the people at the top, and those that will lose out are the people at the bottom

The real scandal as far as MPs are concerned is that they govern me without my consent. I didn't vote for any of them, yet each one considers their power over me - let alone their salary and perks - to be legitimate. Arguments about duck ponds and mortgage repayments are a nothing more than a (very convenient) red herring in my book.
The News of the Screws is a scummy rag as most people know, but it would have been far more shocking if it had been revealed that they DIDN'T go to such lengths to print their vile gossip and innuendo.

Both are equally reprehensible in their own fashion. As James says, the footsoldiers will be getting the bullet, whilst the likes of the ginga witch will still get their bonuses and stock options...As for the various MPs, refurbishing their family homes with taxpayers money whilst claiming to live in their sisters spare room (as their main residence), I'm sorely tempted to say "line them up against the wall and shoot the lot of them". Dont want to be seen as being too soft on them though Adrian S excepted though

All this rightious indignation coming from politicians is quite amusing. It smacks of revenge on the press for outing them over the expense fiddles. So they've leapt on this as the excuse for "curbing" the press. MI5 and the CIA have been listening in to top figures for decades. Read Peter Wrights banned book Spycatcher and he reveals bugging was routine, even Harold Wilson was suspected of being a soviet agent along with the head of MI5. So this is just another trojan horse to piggy back legislation thro to take away more freedom. They pick an immotive cause, fire everyone up to demand action and bobs your uncle the press are handcuffed. They won't be able to investigate anything other than approved by HMG. The powers that be will be able to bury any story they don't like by crying foul that they've been caught red handed by investigative journo's digging around. What's disgusting to me is the cynical use of this mess by our so called leaders.

............Wowser, what a fantastic, nay extraordinary afternoons' viewing and listening, as the Select Committee in Smoke lay their not inconsiderable collective boots into both Murdoch Senior and Junior - this has really been a historical set of questioning taking place here, right up there and probably at times MORE engrossing than that of a youngish David Frost dragging Tricky Dicky Nixon (one time US Prez for those younger members on here!!!) over the coals back in those halcyon 70s Watergate days and till now what I considered THE best telly ever - the difference here is that Dicky was an easy target, he was the archetypal "dead man walking" - the Family Murdoch are a different beast altogether - to see the very pinnacle of "newspaperdom" scrapping like wildcats for their collective lives whilst on the stand and wriggling like fishys on the end of the line as they avoid questioning with clever wordplay and interruptive techniques is fantastic viewing - the mundanity (perceived mainly imho) of the subject matter only adds to the grandeur of the situation - Cripes only knows what'll happen when Rebekah Brooks takes the stand shortly - still can't help looking at her and expecting her to break into choruses of "I'm Queen, I'm Queen" - as in Black Adder!!! - its a facial similarity thing...................
..,,,,,seriously though, I do suggest all catch these goings-on via the news later tonight - great stuff!!!!!!!........
