Well after 55 years of supporting Torquay I think that is about it for me. Put season ticket in drawer and find something better to do on Saturdays. At least the wife will be pleased. I went to this game with great optimism and if I had walked away from the game saying "what a great game of football - pity we lost" or perhaps "we gave it a go but were beaten by a better team" or even "we did our best but luck was against us" I may have considered carrying on. However we could not compete against an average, though shrewd and physical, non-league side on what was our biggest chance of making the 5th round of the cup. Put this together with FIFA, EUFA, The premiership, the Bosman ruling, tabloid media coverage, officials and the rules becoming more and more inconsistant and it will not just Torquay I will be foregoing but football as a whole. That game was one of the most inept displays of football in the 4th round of the FA cup, by both teams I should add, that I have had the misfortune to witness. I think a shift to rugby or cricket may be coming on as I see no way out for football as a whole or Torquay United in particular. Thank you for some great times especially in the late sixties but I think that really is it for me as there are better things to do with my time and money.

If this is the mentality of many in the Bay, then no wonder we have non-league gates.

Hi hullgull, I'm normally a glass full man and not pessimistic but after today I had to vent some anger.
Sadly the extra fans we attracted and then made them wait outside for an hour and a half in bitterly cold conditions was also poor form. and then to serve up that display for the game its no wonder we attract such poor crowds.
Why were the gates not opened at 1pm ?
But on a positive note ..... How amazing is Bevan to save two pens in a game, when was the last time anyone has seen that....
I'll be there Tuesday though.

I'm with JM on this one - a crap crowd on Tuesday is fairly certain. Perhaps if Beyon is sold on Monday then it will be even lower - although I think if we are to persist with the dreadful 4-5-1 approach then it might be Kee who suits that role best anyway. It's going to be an interesting 50 hours.

Well, my thoughts.
All this formation talk... You can play whatever formation you want BUT as long as a large part of the starting eleven are not 'up for it' from the start you simply can't beat the other team.
Workrate comes always first, and how many times have we heard Paul Buckle say "you first have to earn the right to play" by putting in enormous effort.
Under Paul Buckle we've played tremendous games in the FA Cup, most of them were won and some were lost by the odd goal. In almost every Cup game (against higher placed teams) the manager and the players have upped their game and made life difficult for the opponents.
Then why did they crumble today? I simply can't tell you and to be honest none of us can, if you ask me. In recent years we've had some real lows and some brilliant highs, we all know which games I mean. That's football!
I feel miserable right now and it will take some time to get this game out of my system but eventually it will. Today being a TUFC supporter sucks, but there will come a day we all feel very proud again. Maybe that day will come sooner than we all think, that's also football; always unpredictable. Or you go and support a team like Man United, always more chance to experience high times.
What were the lyrics of that song made by Chumbawamba...

Great post mate...not all of us are terrible losers it seems! Not letting you get away with that Lambie my dear man It most certainly is not the case any at todays games were terrible losers, we all paid good money, made the effort to be there and played our part as supporters for the whole game. We all have learned in the past how to take defeat, but today it was the way we lost and the way we never looked like we wanted to win it that hurt the fans. Our players seemed more caught up in all the hype concerning Evans and Raynor. Always looking for the next handbag fight when they should have been just getting on and trying to play the good football they can. Yes fans will get over this defeat, they have also learned how to do that so many times supporting this club. But home fans have been asked to part with a good lot of money since Christmas and after todays very poor show, can be forgiven if they decide to miss Tuesdays match. To think I left Plainmoor feeling very low and down, when I could have left Armada Park instead smiling as Ant Roach scored a last minute goal that earned his side a fine three two win.

everyone is entitled to their opinion, including myself,we were dire, didnt want it enough and basically gifted crawley the chance of a jackpot, thats very disappointing to say the least,it cost myself and many others a lot of dosh today, all we expect is effort and enthusiasm we got neither. But i will be there on tuesday come what may, supporting my team, despite the fact they let us down badly today, and have done over many years at times

Why were the gates not opened at 1pm ? A very good question indeed and the game did not kick 0ff late because fans turned up late, it was only because there was not enough time in the one and a quarter hours the club allowed, to get them all in. This picture I have already put up was taken at 1.25pm and you can see the queue is already to the end of the popside and around the corner. The club very clearly go it wrong.

Don’t get me wrong, Dave, I am very p****d off as well. For whatever reason the players and Buckle did not get the required performance today. I can understand people being annoyed after paying to watch that (although I still think the "I'm not bothering again" comment at the top of the page was and is pathetic). I watched it online and listened to it on Radio 5live with increasing levels of frustration - and to make matters even worse there's a bloke at work who comes from Crawley! Monday's going to be great fun Will we ever have a better chance to reach the 5th round? Probably not. It's heartbreaking. But as Ospelgull said, it's football. What surprises me most though is how much people seem to have expected us to win – haven't people learnt anything in all their years following United?!
