Yeah 100% record is just not good enough! We conceded a goal - it's just not good enough.

Certain peoples attitudes towards others on here is creating some very hostile posts elsewhere, can we please refrain from getting arsey with each other, I know it`s a case of `the pot calling the kettle black` but I`ve tried very hard recently to lift my game and respect others views on things, if I can do it then I think most people on here can! I`m not asking for people to agree with everyone just to show a little bit of leniency with posts made! If you don`t like what`s been written or disagree with a view by all means state your points but try not to piss people off when doing so! Please! Waits for imminent sarcasm!!!!!!!!!

People think you`ve been a bit harsh with your scores, have a read of this, I`ve just been over to the Vale Forum:- Tomlinson - 5 - I'd be tempted to drop him. Thought he was poor at Fulham and spilled a couple today. Collins - 5 - Far from convincing. Slow in possession. K.Taylor - 5 - Not likely to hold his spot. Owen - 3 - Shocking. Turned inside out, couldn't cope with the pace. McCombe - 5 - Improved as it went on but also struggled against the pace. Griffith - 5 - Couldn't get a foothold on the game but what a goal. Roberts - 5 - Gave the ball away an awful lot. Passing off the mark. Rigg - 6 - Tried to get in the game but often lacked a final ball. Faded. Dodds - 4 - Started ok but faded fast. Anonymous from about 20 minutes on. m.Richards - 6 - Tried his best to bring others into play but failed. J.Richards - 5 - Abysmal first touch at times. Wasted opportunities. Yates - 6 - Probably our best player but his crossing was v.poor at times. R. Taylor - 5 - Never got into the game. Morsy - 5 - Ditto. Their not happy bunnies! ;D Without knowing the Vale fan's standard baseline these figures are meaningless. Do they start on a 7 or 6............god forbid a 5. Well if their centre halves got a "3" and a "5" and struggled against pace. How the frig can Benyon get a 5? ;D ;D Even if the "Zebroski" centre half got a 3 and the "Benyon" centre half got a 5, then they both can't get a 5, can they now. Surely Benyon deserves at least a 6 or 7 for making their centre half have a 5. It's illogical Captain. Buckle out and the sooner "big time charlie" Benyon buggers off to Swansea, the better.

Mate you are getting way too deep for me, its a football match not the theory of relativity. You're not an exile from another Torquay United forum that isn't available at the moment, are you?

I will be using a new Performance Indicator for my next match report: A: Outstanding through to Z: Should be taken outside and shot I will if the need arise be putting a number after the letter i.e. A1 if the player on the day is a 'tad' better than outstanding. That, as they say is my last comment on this matter

I'm beginning to see now why the strictly come dancing judges get ratty with each other.... Maybe it is time for a new match thread and a new topic in the Forum help.

Chris
Thanks for the photos, good to see em when you can`t make the game.
Thanks also to all those who went, for the match reports. must confess i switched off a bit with all the debate on peformance. Got a little too serious. I am though troubled by one aspect of Saturday.
The general feeling seems to be that Burslem is a hole.
Has the Red Lion taken this a bit too far and hung giant toilet seats rather than hanging baskets? ;D

Opinions - everybody's got one.
I don't bother when people go on that Carlisle is sh1te, Mansell can't play in midfield, Robertson will never be a right back and Nicholson can't defend.
What does irk me is when "lack of effort" is unfairly directed at players. I've watched Zebs work his nuts off up and down the flank only to hear him being berated for being lazy. I've watched Sills put in sterling stints leading the line and heard people still claiming he is lazy. I don't know how well Benyon played at Port Vale - I wasn't there. I do find it hard to believe that he wasn't interested.
I wonder if Warwick was guilty of over-hyping Benyon to his neutral friends on the way to the game? Have you ever raved to a mate about a band and then heard a so-so track of theirs come on the radio? Do you say a) "Yes, they aren't that brilliant are they? They are all right, but I've totally over-egged how good they are" or b) "Of course, this is the most commercial track of the second album and their first album is far far better than that".
If you've given Benners a massive build-up, but he hasn't stood out amongst the 22 on the field and has been totally overshadowed by a brilliant Zebs performance, it is a face-saver to claim that he was way below his usual standard, isn't it?
I'm the first to have a go at Merse for his style of belittling others' views, but I think he has a point here. We go away from home to a decent side and play them off the park for half an hour. It would be lovely to play them off the park for the next hour too, but that is unlikely to happen - particularly if they get a foothold back in the game through a "wonderstrike" goal.
Quite a few people expressed a concern that when we finally conceeded, the floodgates would open. A brilliant run is great, but the sign of a good side is to put the ending of one run to one side and set about starting another run. As Chelston says, we are now up to 54 minutes without conceeding a goal .....
