The club are looking for ideas on what music to play on match days so this is your chance to nominate some music.
Nominations are required for:
When the players walk out. (Looks like there's trouble ahead?) When we score a goal- (the sound of silence?) Half time ditty (Mission impossible?) As we leave the ground. (We'll meet again, don't know why, don't know when?)
;D

Here is one suggestion, how about NO music at all for the 10/15 minutes prior to kick off and certainly no female singer/shouter just before the players run out. Good luck charm my harse, we didn’t win a game on her last 3 ‘appearances’. Also, the PA system is so bad it just sounds like the white noise they use for interrogation, it’s enough to drive you up the wall. Last season the crowd try and get an atmosphere going just before the players come out, yet it is all drowned out by the likes of Tiny Temper, Ndubs, Rhianna, etc, let the crowd get going, I’m sure the players would prefer to run out to Yellow Army. Then NO music at half time either. At half time you want to be able to chat about what you have seen or socialise with people you only get to see at games, instead of the drone where you can’t even hear yourself think let alone hold a conversation. Before you ask, no I haven’t got out of the wrong side of bed this morning it’s just the music at Plainmoor is generally just a noise, however if you are going to play music, first of all sort the PA system out. Once that is done how about; Queen – It’s a kind of Magic, what we are about to watch Queen – You’re my best friend, somebody to love & friends will be friends, for a bit of a love in as some could do with that on here after this last week. Queen – One vision, Martin Lings vision Queen – Another one bites the dust, Burton, Crawley, Macclesfield et al And finally... Queen – Radio Gaga, perhaps we can get the crowd to start the clapping in readiness for the game The caveat is that all music stops 10 minutes before kick off. And just to save Stuart looking for Take That songs. Patience (give the manager a chance, rather than crucify him on Day 1 before he has done anything), Could it be Magic (could it??) and finally Greatest Day (last game of the season).

As much as crackly, barely discernable cheesy pop music is a cherished part of the pre-match atmosphere - along with wafts of cigarette smoke, coffee and pies - I'd personally like to see run out music replaced by some noise from the crowd

By all means let the teams run out to some music if that's what the majority want. My gripe is that the music continues for so long.It invariably stops the second it has drowned out the Ref blowing his whistle for kick off. Occasionally the first 5 seconds or so of the game are accompanied by the 'music' before someone remembers to switch it off.
Half time would be a much more pleasant experience without it. For a start there are more than enough announcements or on field activities being commentated on that I'm sure even a tiny period where people could chat without having to try to bellow at each other over the 'music' would be much appreciated.
My attempts to listen to half time reports via earphones attached to my pocket radio are all but impossible with the unequal struggle against the aural battering we're all getting from the 'music'.
A quick burst of Chuck Berry's 'My Ding-A-Ling' as the new Manager is introduced to the crowd should be all the music we require.

Since the old grandstand is being ripped down and that`s where the sound system is just exactly how is this going to be played?

There is only one song we should run out to, Ladies and Gentlemen I give you......A Banda by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass! I'm with you on that one papalazarou as I suspect many of a certain age are! One of my strange rituals when the Gulls are away is to play 'Children' by Robert Miles at 6 minutes to 3pm immediately followed by 'A Banda' (both saved to favourites in the Torquay United file!) to take me up to kick off time! Really gets me in the mood and it's no wonder I'm always so positive! ;D

These traditions form part of the club's heritage and are what makes watching your own club play at home special. Paul Buckle's claim that having some bird screech through a crackly PA system was 'good for the players' was ludicrous. Perhaps Jon can tell us what our home form was pre- and post- this decision?

What was the song they used to play (Bateson era) just before the start of the second half (or maybe it was the first, after the coin toss)? Was a big dramatic classical thing, but only lasted about 30 seconds

It really is pointless debating this issue until we have something to play music through!
