The whole premise of water companies is absurd. Pipes and reservoirs need to be maintained, but this should be done at cost price. Living in London, I'd love to swap my horrible limey water with the stuff that flows off Dartmoor, but I don't have a choice. Presumably Mrs Thatcher's idea of competition with regard to this related to those competing for control of these monopolies.
I'd look into this if I were you Loyalgull. If you're on a meter though you may find it difficult to argue.

How is a bill that size even possible, do you run a golf course? Jeez I'm glad I don't live in Blighty what with the utility bills going nuts, local snoopers masquarading as councils telling me how I have to live my life and the Public Servant pensions timebomb. I read now that those cheeky feckers in the Teaching Unions are going to strike! 13 weeks holiday and a cushy job ain't enough for them. Hey Teacher, leave our quids alone!!

'Kin'Ell...You can challenge the size of the bill as 60% of a water bill is the sewerage charge (just checked mine) and as the water is soaking into the ground, it doesnt go through the drainage system. Not much but every little helps...

Bills don`t work thay way, it`s down to who ever is using and or paying for the supply. The bills follow you to your next address if you still owe the utility company!
