.....First episode was on tonight on BBC3 - it is a previously unseen series about our troops and their times out in Afghanistan - this first episode was from Apr 2007 and featured 3 Platoon 1 Royal Anglian - if you get a chance watch it back on BBC i-Player or it is repeated again tomorrow morning 0025 and early Fri morning 0415 - it is absolutely engrossing and awe-inspiring viewing - filmed mainly on the lads' hand-helds and mobiles, it is deffo not jingoistic, and is full of the stark realities of modern close-quarters warfare, pulling no punches - award-winning without a doubt, you heard it here first - oh and Sgt Simon Panter MC who features, truly a giant among men with the leadership qualities he showed in the episode......
........do try to watch it if you can - I certainly will be watching the rest - on a personal level, I have a 2nd cousin, Liam Donovan who is a Lance Corporal in 5 Rifles and is heading out to Afghanistan in Aug/Sep for 6 months so it is of great interest to me............
