It does seem that the whole event, has so far been trouble free, unless I missed any news. It does beg the question, why when England are involved there is aways problems. Ofcourse the majority of English fans are probably well behaved and other countries have their troublemakers. But I think as a whole the English are an agressive race, and being an island we have a different psyche to mainland Europeans. You only have to visit our own town centres at night to witness how intimidating groups of drink-fuelled Brits can be. Compare that to how Europeans can enjoy a drink and not be agressive. So whether it is Brits abroad on holiday or at a football tournament, particularly when drink is involved, we are often intimidating to others. What other countries would consistently chant "ten German bombers" abroad or "I'd rather be a P**i than a Turk" ? With that sort of mentality trouble never seems far away. I am still proud to be English but I think there are certain aspects about us as a race that are quite an embarrassment. Note: I have modified one word. No big deal , it could just be offensive to some. I completly understand the point you were making and the reason why you were saying it. And I agree with your point. Just considering sensitivities. - jamie

I went to bed on ninety minutes, and whilst acknowledging Italy as World Champions; I find watching them (and Italian club football in general) akin to watching paint dry - such is the lack of pace in their game. For it to be more "watchable" would require a more mobile and aggressive lone front man then that "Big Jelly Baby" Luca Toni up front..............six foot two tall but only two foot six when he jumps! You can admire the discipline of their shape keeping and their getting behind the ball when not in possession, but - no thanks; the highlight for me has to be their national anthem.........perhaps they should leave it until the end!

Euro trouble - on the whole it has been peaceable with notable exceptions of some German and Dutch fans in certain games. Things tend to hot up as a tournament progresses, though. But there must be some confidence that it won't get out of hand - just look at the last World Cup (and English fans were there too!!), which went off OK. Hooliganism in general has been on the decline worldwide and most nations talk to each other and police themselves much more than in the past. Lessons have been learnt. Most European hooligans (which the English are part of but not the worst) are controlled now with either close police attention or not being allowed to travel.
Italy - oh dear! It looked as though they were being coached by Sam Allardyce. Is this the football we poor English have to look up to? Ooh they had technique and guile! Not! Defend , defend, defend, hoof, defend. I'd rather watch McLaren's England team. Oh - hold on - nurse! The screens...
