What A Game!
Buckland know how to put their faithful supporters through it.
Launceston are a mid-table team and really gave us a fright last night, But Buckland are committed for the whole 90 minutes and do not give up easily;
Buckland took an early lead in the 12th minute when the Launceston keeper brought down Liam Moseley when he was going away from goal to give a needless penalty away. Danny Gaze took the responcibility for the kick as 'Gaffer' Antony Lynch missed the last penalty we had. Danny Gaze made no mistakes and blasted the ball into the net giving the keeper no chance.
Launceston came into the game a lot more and equalised when a Launceston forward had a free header at the far post and was not challenged by the Buckland defence and made no mistake in putting it in the goal. Half Time; 1-1.
Launceston shocked the league leaders by taking an early 2-1 lead in the opening minutes of the second half;
Launceston kept this lead until the 73rd minutes when Danny Gaze got his second of the night; when the ball came out to him on the edge of the box and he fired low into the net.
Buckland then took the lead once more; when Mike Booth pounced on a loose ball after the Launceston keeper made a good save and he fired it high in the 'Road End' net to give Buckland a 3-2 lead.
Launceston equalised again to shock the Buckland fans when a flukey cross-come shot sailed over James Wannell's head in the home goal and into the net.
But it still wasnt over........
With less than 2 minutes to go; Buckland were awarded a second penalty and all the pressure was on Danny Gaze as he could win the game for the Bucks and also get himself a hat-trick.
The crowd fell silent; with numerous supporters not being able to watch the kick and then a massive roar rocked Homers Heath when Gazey blasted the ball into the Net; The Launceston keeper got a hand to it but the power of the shot got it over the line.
A truely remarkable come-back for the Bucks and another 3 points closer to retaining the title;
Special mention to James Wannell who is now travelling back to Sweden to play for his club in Sweden. He's made many vital saves through-out the season and he will hopefully return to the Heath next year!
My Man Of The Match; Danny Gaze; for his fantastic hat-trick.
Attendance; 96 (very dissapointing for a Friday Night, with little other football being played)
P.S; Was very nice to see Dave up the heath again,
Mine and Dad's thoughts are with you
AMY (:
