In a week that started with the high of the Great Wolfie Carvery on Saturday followed by the win against Lincoln and then ended with the low of Carol passing away yesterday, there hasn't been much voting going on.
However, totting up the votes has ended in a three way tie so well done to Lambeth, Stefano and Swangull who will all be in yellow this week. I have picked up three posts on different topics with the first by Stefano on the Wayne Rooney incident. Something that he has now lost his appeal and is not a happy bunny..
It is not always easy to guage whether the rest of the country are actually outraged or (a) Don't care what an insignificant little jerk says when having a tantrum or (b) Haven't actually heard of Wayne Rooney (millions in this country I would bet).
It is the media who tell us that the whole of the country is outraged and many a time I have wondered when reading or listening to the media whether I am the only one out of step with the rest of the country.
How many times have we read in the paper a phrase such as, "A shocked bystander said ...."? No he didn't! There was no shocked bystander, and the phrase has been inserted either by the reporter to show the editor he is doing his job or by the editor who knows that he isn't!
The media control and manipulate without any real accountability and it is the media that hyped up the incident which really should have been played down and ignored by the media but not by the FA.
Yes Rooney is an oaf and yes he should receive a punishment. Unfortunately a punishment for one of these multi-millionaires is not actually a punishment and with Rooney and many like him it is many years too late.
He is one of a generation who received no discipline at school, never heard the word no from their parents, had no ambition to work for a living but thought it their right to be a celebrity, and on achieving that so-called status then resent everything and everybody else.
What thread is this?
Oh yes Lincoln matchday thread. Great save by Bevan!
Second up is Lambeth, who was actually quoted at the start of Stefano's post above. In this instant, he wisely decided not to elaborate on the workings of the various European Institutions but to stick to the safer and more universally accepted suject of Pies. ;D
The Family Stand's loss was the Popular Side buffet bar's gain however, and I took the opportunity to check out the much-vaunted pies which Aussie has told us about.
My loyalties to TUFC on football matters are unwavering, but the pies would be judged on their merits. Would I be served one of the tastiest yet simplest hot snacks available to man, or would I end up with the pie equivalent of Lubos Kubik? More crucially, would the new security arrangments put in place since Billy Kee's arrival mean there would be some left? There was only one way to find out...
The ratings:
Presentation - Golden pastry served on a rectangular foil tray. Wrapped in a paper bag (bakery-style) to keep it warm and safe from rain, Pop Side odours and scraps of torn up yellow pages en route to spot. 8/10.
Taste – Remembering Dave's warning about the Steak and Ale pie, I went for Steak. This was served to the required temperature (hot but not scolding). There were chunks of steak rather than mince (always good) and a rich, well-seasoned gravy. The downside was there was a bit too much gravy, which resulted in an unseemly but necessary use of fingers. I didn't check to see if forks were available. 6.5/10.
Pastry – Crisp on top, a bit too moist underneath (a fault of the filling ratios rather than the pastry). 7/10.
Overall verdict – I think Dave has been spoilt if he thinks £2.50 for an edible pie in a football ground represents poor value. Not a massive pie agreed, but not a piss take either. A world away from the Pukka-Pie nastiness found at many grounds. Aussie, it seems, is a man who knows his pies. 7/10.

Finally but by no means least, was Swangull who you can bet your bottom dollar will produce a good match report which generally goes down well on a football fans forum.
The first half was quite frustrating. Torquay started off positively but less than 10 minutes gone Carayol, who had a few boos from the home fans, went off injured for Lincoln. Torquay's momentum got lost the longer the first half went on and there were lots of stoppages which suited Lincoln and their keeper took an age to take their kicks at times. The ref was very finicky and booked Torquay players for very minor offences, especially for Stanley who hardly kicked the ball away for supposedly timewasting. Zebroski was our best threat and after good work by Tomlin, Zebroski's shot was saved and our rebounds were blocked. Robinson was wasteful when he had good shooting positions, on one such occasion shooting into the side netting when he should have pulled the ball across goal to waiting attackers. Lincoln rarely threatened but Robertson did a great headed clearance off the line to save a goal. On the stroke of half-time, Zebroski nearly scored again, however after beating their keeper the ball cannoned off a defender on the line and went into the hands of their keeper, Parish. In the first half Kee came on for Murray, I don't know if he was injured?
Torquay had a really good spell in the second half with the home crowd trying to urge the team on with some impressive chanting, including a drummer in the Pop side. Torquay brought on O'Kane for Lathrope and later Stevens for Robinson who was disappointing today. O'Kane nearly scored with his first touch with a low drive from outside the box, and Kipper had to stretch to parry the ball away. However Lincoln finally threatened and had a good 5-10 minute spell. They should have scored from close range and their players were already celebrating yet somehow Bevan saved from point blank range.
A goalless draw was strarting to look on the cards and Torquay were no longer threatening. Yet out-of-the-blue a threaded ball from Stanley put Zebroski clear just outside the penalty box. He rounded the keeper and at quite a tight angle fired the ball into the back of the net with a defender trying to cover. Relief, Torquay finally had broken the dead-lock! Zebroski nearly scored again from a decent passing move but this time hit the foot of the post. Then Stanley put Tomlin through in a similiar way to Zebroski earlier, and Tomlin cooly planted the ball into the back of the net after a little shuffle with his feet.
So 2-0 in the end from 2 really well made goals from Stanley and expertly dispatched. Torquay had looked the superior team for virtually the entire match and finally their extra class told. These are exciting times and what a credit to everyone at the club how well the season has progressed. To think after losing Benyon and Wroe we might struggle at the wrong end again. Well the reverse has happened and Buckle has done a quite remarkable job considering his limited budget. It is also good to see a strong looking bench today with players who could come on a make a difference.

Wayne Rooney is an oaf, but the pieties we've had to endure following the weekend's incident have annoyed me more than the episode itself. "What a tit" was my reaction, and I genuinely don't understand the outrage others seem to be feeling.

I was unable to attend the Wolfie Carvery at the weekend, which for those who wouldn't have wanted indigestion brought on listening to me talking to myself about the differences between the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights was probably a blessing ;D

In the end we won by 2 quality taken goals by Zebroski and Tomlin, both goals coming from the same source, Stanley. Torquay were the superior team for most of the match but we had to wait 74 minutes for the breakthrough. Sponsors MOTM deservedly going to Zebroski who looked our main threat throughout the match. Crowd 2,751, officially 153 from Lincoln and you have to say that even at 0-0, the home crowd often tried the rouse the team. Much of the chanting today from all 3 home sides was impressive I thought.
