No women refs for me thank-you, sorry.
But the woman ref in snooker is brilliant. Not only is she very good at her job but she's well smart and keeps bending over the table (sorry, I'll stop there) ;D

Of course both sexes should be refs. If they are qualified they should do it. Gender is of no consiquence.

I don't see sex as an issue.
There are a couple of women ref's in Exeter who do a damn fine job if you ask me and boy do they get some stick from the blokes. They take it all in their stride though and are as good as the blokes for sure.

We had a woman ( Debbie Frampton) ref our pre-season friendly at Dorchester a few years ago (the one where Habib Sissoko looked a World beater) and I remember Mark Ford commenting afterwards that he found it amusing to be bollocked by someone he fancied. Resisting the temptation to take the name of Justin Fashanu in vain, I pointed out to him that the lino was her partner - "lucky fella" he replied. "No, not that one , he's her brother....... Dave." I informed him! You should have seen the crest fallen Fordy, as he watched Wendy Toms like a hawk! It's not that women can't referee, and in the current climate of so many officials not possessing the old style empathy and shared attitude of the players; they fit in far better than they would have in the old days of "political incorrectness". Of course a female can display man management and control in the same manner as a male...................Wendy Toms lost her place on the Football League line due to her failing the pre-season fitness assessment tests. I only ever saw her "line", and she was no different than any other "average Joe" League lino. The aforementioned Debbie Frampton is the only one I have seen take a game of any seniority, and she was both very good and very athletic. Don't say "oh, it was only a friendly"..................they are often the hardest and trickiest games to handle!

Saw Amy Rayner ref Aldershot v Stafford last season. I'm sure she's had better days. Male or female is fine by me. The dividing line is whether they are any good or not.

Only thing that bothers me is the dreaded off-side rule, it`s got to the point that even most blokes that play on Saturdays locally don`t fully understand it, so how on Earth is a woman gunna manage! (Prepares for feminine onslaught). Only joking, I would heavily endorse women refs, lino`s, first aid people( like we have at Riviera Spurs Res.), players, spectators. Oh crap now I`m starting to sound like a perv, he he . Generally and more seriously the more people involved in football the better we all will be!
