I had to look up Barton Rovers before the game as I had no idea where they are from but a little digging on Wikipedia told me that they are from a large village of Barton-Le-Clay in Bedfordshire between Luton and Bedford. And it's just possible that Barton's greatest chapter was the 1980/81 FA Cup run (taken from FCHD). Programme anybody? 1Q CAMBERLEY TOWN H 3-0 2Q WALTON & HERSHAM H 1-0 3Q SLOUGH TOWN A 1-0 4Q A P LEAMINGTON A 1-0 1 TORQUAY UNITED A 0-2 Marlow, meanwhile, were up for the FA Cup right from the very start playing in Maidenhead in the inaugural competition in 1871/72. Their halcyon days even included a semi-final appearance: 1881-82 3 DREADNOUGHT A 2-1 4 READING H W/O QF OLD FORESTERS A 0-0 QFr OLD FORESTERS H 1-0 SF OLD ETONIANS N 0-5 @ Kennington Oval Dreadnought? Was that one of tufc01's or Mr W's? Today’s gratuitous observation. Argyle had a nervy FA Cup visit to Marlow in 1993 on the day we played just down the road in Slough. With the odd boundary change in the Southern League perhaps they’ll be visiting again soon? Sorry. Totally uncalled for.

I know those 4 nutters from Holland and Belgium. Joris, Joost, Hugo and Dimitri.
They sponsored the match as Phoenix '92. An internet forum, which I'm also a member of, for Dutch and Belgian people who are crazy about football on your island.
Last season we went to Hayes & Yeading, the years before to Merthyr Tydfil and Workington AFC.

There's a good little catering booth that did a generous portion of Shephards Pie or as one of the Barton Rover's directors described it to the left back as "fat bastard food". I am quite partial to a bit of shepherd's pie actually.

No it wasn't me. My first ship was HMS Ariadne in 1983. Also a Leander class frigate like Mr W's first ship. Mr W how did you enjoy Leander's?? I really enjoyed my time on there (4 years) with 3 WIGS, several Med trips. All hot places and NO Iceland-Pharaohs Gap shite. Living in 3E mess and pretty much under the 4.5 inch gun I used to LOVE the smell of cordite after a spot of NGS. I always felt that Small ships were more of a closer knit group than the carriers, but I suppose I only embarked on the carrier as part of the CAG, so was more a 'visitor' than crew.
