Can anyone recommend a decent history of Torquay United book? You could aways subscribe to a weekly email magazine, The History Of Torquay United, written by our member Jon. Only joking He does not have such a service, but with his great knowledge Of our clubs history, maybe he should consider It. I'm sure If there Is anything you need to know and can't find any Information On It, then ask the question In a thread On here and hopefully Jon will be able to answer it for you.

As for the "Leigh Edwards book", you might like to know that very little of it was written by Leigh Edwards! It's not as good as it shouild have been, but it's not bad. Worth £98 of anyone's money!

I've always liked the idea of a Torquay United book or DVD covering their history. Maybe now would be a good time to do one, reminding us what it was like to be a team in the football league. Hopefully that won't become a distant memory and something to reminisce over the coming years.
I've often wondered if Dave Thomas would be up for this as he's by far the best person qualified to write a book. I used to read his match reports when I was at school and I'm now 46, and he's always an entertaining read. Do you know Dave if DT reads this site ?
Saying that Jon seems to have have a special interest in the history of TUFC, so if he wants to make a start I will promise him I will buy a copy.

I did print myself some leaflets and gave some out at one preseason game, I gave DT one, but as I prefer to run the forum as a members only forum, he would have had to join to read It. Maybe he has as some user names are unknown to most Of Us, but you can bet a book by Jon would be a really great read.

I've always been curious why you run this site as a members only forum, Dave ? As I've said before I think this site is a really good advert for TUFC as a whole and it's a shame more football fans can't enjoy it. Personally I like it when a supporter from another team comments on a TUFC forum to give a different slant on things, providing it's done responsibly ! I notice that most days I need to log in even if I only want to view. Is this deliberate ?

The reason the site Is run for only TUFC fans Is, that In my view and I know many others share It ,once you get fans on a board from another club, It can soon just turn Into nothing but rubbish banter. The aim here has always been to try and get quality posts from people who really just want to talk about the club.
I have had the site open to guests On and Off, when It Is open to guests the site has always been less busy and post numbers dropped. It has been proved that having so you need to log In, the site Is so much more busy.
If you do not delete cookies then you can choose to log in forever and will never need to log In again. Once you close the site, you will not show as being Online On the forum. unlike some forums, where you will show up to one hour after you have left.
Once you close the site your name drops down Into the list Of who has been online In the last 24 hours. Other forums do not have the last 24 hour list, but the online list contains those online and those who have been In the last hour, thus making It look like there Is more online than there really Is.
I could put In a code to do that, but prefer the on line list to show who really Is online at the time they are.
I would add that It costs far more money to do it this way as logged In members use far more add free page views, that have to be paid for, Its my view that It Is a price worth paying.
