Just felt the need to share my morning of emotional termoil with my friends on here.
You see I have a 27 year old daughter teaching English in Tokyo who has been caught up in the devastation that occured this morning but thankfully has got a message through to us that she is OK unlike mamy many people unfortunate to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. To wake up and see that on the news was the most sobbering experience of my life and puts everything sharply into perpective. The death toll with undoubtedly rise sharply in the days and hours to come I am so very thankful that my daughter will not be in that statistic.

Pete, having been thro one I know what she is experiencing. I was lucky and I'm sure she'll be fine too. The aftermath was grim and that is what left a lasting memory for me and todays events have reopened a can of worms. She may need a bit of TLC.

It looks very bad looking at the live BBc coverage. I have a friend who lives a bit further inland from Tokyo on higher ground. Must be bloody awful for all in the affected areas. Let's hope the death toll is as low as it possibly can be.

I have spoken to Tokyogull's sister. A few broken ornaments (not his Torquay United mug, I hope), but he is fine.

Thanks for the news Jon, I did not watch any of the coverage yesterday as I was not up to seeing all the images I expected I would see. I was up early this morning and have now watched some of it and it looks very bad indeed. I was thinking yesterday while I was listening to the news on my radio in my van, that with so many disasters happening recently, it felt like the earth was wanting to punish us for the way we are looking after it. I know that is not the case and such things are just down mostly to the power of nature, but there has been so many events lately. |

I have just spoken to my daughter and she was unaware of the explosion. This now is probably my biggest concern - another bloody Chernnobyl.
Well south but the implications of a reactor core meltdown are unthnkable. Just want her home right now.

My feelings as well Aus spoke with her on Skype this morning and tried to convince her of the possible magnitude of the situation and she seemed blaze about it all. Im hoping that her employers or the Foreign office are monitoring the situation carefully and that all British Nationals are informed or assisted in any way possible especially if the situation worsens. She loves the country and the people though I reckon the realisation and scale of the disaster is yet to hit home. Thanks to all who have voiced their concerns as you can imagine we are all very uneasy about the whole situation though thank god it could easily have been so much worse if she had been in Sendai. |

Reactor no.3 is in melt down and could explode at any time! Unbeleivable!
