Yes I remember both fires well and what a shock it was to walk into the ground at the next home match and see a third of the stand ruined by the fire. With the away end already turned into a used car lot, our capacity fell to just under 5000. As we know the original main part of the stand came from the Buckfastliegh racecourse and cost the club all of a hundred and fifty pounds. As it was before the fire How our new stand will look if and when it gets built.

I could tell you that we bagged a "profit" of £79,000 "surplus of insurance monies received over cost of demolition and removal of fire damaged grandstand". That probably helped to pay off the "loan due from holding company no longer recoverable".
