Once a year our ClustrMap gets archived and a new one is started for the coming year. One reason this has to be done is the map over the year just fills up with so many dots on it; it becomes near impossible to view the map.
The TFF enjoys a number of paid services for free such as the opportunity to expand parts of the map to explore it better. This came about after we had a few problems with the service provided and as a good will gesture the ClustrMap team offered the paid services for free for continuing to use their service.
The forum is also monitored in real time by a company called Insights; this service is provided free by Proboards and is far more detailed. Such things as visitors, pages views, number of posts, new members, new threads started are all recorded and on different pages the information appears in the form of graphs to map the daily ups and downs of the forum.
It is clear that the ClustrMap service does not record so accurately the number of people visiting this forum and the numbers shown are far less than the truer figures collected by Insight. But both have shown that over the last three months, our visitor numbers have greatly increased to new highs and this is very pleasing as it means more and more people are now reading our forum and more importantly our views.
All the various graphs provided by Insight have all shown large rises over the last few months and let’s hope they continue to carry on this upward trend.
One reason why its worth to keep using the ClustrMap service is it does record from what countries the site has been viewed from and for that reason alone I intend to keep it on here.
If you take a look at the new map you will see it started yesterday and so these are the Current Country Totals
From 12 Jan 2011 to 13 Jan 2011
United Kingdom (GB) 486
United States (US) 16
Australia (AU) 6
Netherlands (NL) 5
Germany (DE) 3
France (FR) 3
Thailand (TH) 3
Canada (CA) 3
Belgium (BE) 1
Ireland (IE) 1
Norway (NO) 1
Finland (FI) 1
Poland (PL) 1
Italy (IT) 1
Indonesia (ID) 1
New Zealand (NZ) 1
Korea, Republic of (KR) 1
Japan (JP) 1
Bulgaria (BG) 1
Portugal (PT) 1
Guernsey (GG) 1
So we have a long way to go this year to reach the total of all the countries we did last year.
The first day we used the ClustrMap service was on the 10th January 2009 and the total visitor numbers it recorded up to the 11th January 2010 when our first map was archived was 59.860. As I said this figure is lower than the one recorded by Insight but its worth putting it up. Because from the 11th January 2010 up to the 12th January 2011, when the map was archived again, the figure for that year was 104.709 and that’s nearly a 75% increase in visitors in our second year.
Lets hope that this time next year we can report on even higher growth figures for our forum and there after every year.
